Hi I just changed the air filter for a FRAM one like the one you showed on the video and after doing so (checked that all tabs were in securely and in place) I can see a part of the rubber gasket near the bottom-front (or if you prefer, the one at the front closer to the engine) tab even after closing the housing, would you happen to know if this is normal? Thanks!
@SkyShadowMedia29 күн бұрын
Try to re-install the filter in the box, you shouldn't be able to see any rubber sticking when the enclosure is sealed. Because the airbox needs to be sealed well for proper operation. Hope you are able to get it to sit better! Feel free to ask any more questions.

@SkyShadowMedia2 жыл бұрын
Try to reposition the filter and move the top part of the box to make sure you don't see the orange gasket. I've had that problem that you mentioned before on other cars and I usually move the filter or box and then check if it closes easily. You want the box to close easy. Hope it helps, let me know if you have other questions.

Great information.. By the way, I've been having lots of problems trying to get the fuel consumption problem diagnosed correctly by the dealership where we bought our Toyota Rav4 2018 new. Our Miles per tank should be 300 (city), but it is down to 175 per tank. It only has 44,000 miles. The only thing the dealership says is, "The computer checks out". I asked them to check out other things, but all they say is, "We have our protocols and steps". Any ideas? Starting to look like a possible lemon. Thanks.
@SkyShadowMedia2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. So I did some research for you on your fuel economy. Is your Rav4 a Hybrid or a different trim? I read that some Rav4's had a fuel tank issue where it didn't fill up to the correct capacity. Another culprit of bad fuel economy could be a bad oxygen sensor. Those sensors seem to be a problem with many Toyotas. I believe you should still have the 6yr/60K mile warranty for the powertrain , so Toyota should diagnose and fix your car for you. Maybe take your car to another Toyota dealership since the first one gave you that kind of unhelpful response. This is my best guess right now for your issue. Please do let me know how it goes and hopefully it can be figured out.
@michaelmorales44782 жыл бұрын
@@SkyShadowMedia Thank you for the options. Our Rav4 is an LE. We took in the vehicle for an oil service and after that, its never been the same again. Thanks for saving me money on the rip off labour charges. I Went to Canadian tire to ask how much the engine filter is for my car. They have two types ,Canadian Tire Motormaster brand is $16.99 while FRAM is $19.99. I think I read somewhere that FRAM makes Motormaster engine filters so it should be ok to buy the lower Canadian Tire Motor master engine filter , is that correct?

I installed an orange rimmed one similar to yours and the orange peaks out a little bit towards the end, that normal? Not where you clip it close but the opposite side.
@SkyShadowMedia2 жыл бұрын
Try to re-adjust the filter or the box and make sure the airbox is sealed and can clip closed easily. I've seen that before on other cars I've changed the air filter on. Sometimes the filter is not sitting in the box correctly.

How frequently do you have to change this?
@SkyShadowMedia Жыл бұрын
About 12,000 miles or 1 year. It depends how much you drive and how dusty your area is. You have to change it sooner. I would say open and check it once in awhile to see how dirty it is. Sometimes I knock out debris and vacuum it a little when it's not time to change it.
