My experience trying to change my own oil and filter: I thought I could do this job for (£20). I tried your method of removing oil filter first and spilled loads of oil all over the public road. Then I poured water over it and the water dragged it right across the road. Tried to remove the sump plug and rounded it off so I couldn't even finish the job. Taking the car to the garage on Thursday and paying them (£30) to do the job properly, plus I'll need to buy another oil filter as I've had to run the car with the old oil (£5). Also going to have to buy a hosepipe and some heavy duty degreaser and scrub and rinse the road I've stained (£50). So in total I've completely wasted my time, probably pissed off my neighbours and I might not even be able to get that stain up now. Never doing my own work on a car again.

Just wondering if replace the oil filter first and then flash the oil is a correct procedure! ANY SUGGESTION?
@autodocuk8 жыл бұрын
Yes, first of all you need to replace the oil filter so that all the oil which is in the body merged into the oil pan. Best regards, Autodoc.
@wolfmannn-nk4rg6 жыл бұрын
Why does it matter what you do first? Some cars have the oil filter on the underside and you have to flush the oil before you change the filter.
@ottofumbler72677 ай бұрын
Ah... the good ol' days. No oil flush, don't warm up the engine, don't remove the dipstick or oil filler cap to aid flow, no torque settings, no cross selling unnecessary cleaners, don't bother resetting the service reminder. Proper cowboys! 🤠

6:25 That's pretty worrying colour! If the engine oil was drained and fully replaced, the colour shouldn't be dark black but rather a yellow colour (similar to the colour of new replacement oil). You should also replace the oil filter AFTER replacing the engine oil with new oil otherwise the existing tainted oil will seep into the new oil filter unit.
@autodocuk8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback!When changing the oil it is necessary to change the filter and that is illustrated on the 40th second of the video.The color of the old oil should be dark as it not only lubricates but also cleans the engine from the combustion products. If the old oil is yellow it means that it is not high quality and does not fulfill its function and all washable soot remains in the engine.Best regards, Autodoc.
@yusuf.alajnabi7 жыл бұрын
Zeeshan Muhammad it doesn't matter when you replace the oil filter as Long as you don't start it with old oil still in there when you have replaced the filter I generally drain the oil first then replace the filter but everyone does things different
