Brake cleaner evaporates oil residue the best and is my go to after an oil change to perfectly clean the oil off

Never change the oil when the engine is cold if you can actually start it new engine or car sitting for years are an exception

You need to change the crush washer/gasket on the oil plug each change as well

Not really, unless its leaking or visibly damaged

@@Eli-gn6dr OK but you run the risk of stripping out your pan threads which costs way more to replace than a couple bucks for a box of washers and if doesn't happen you still run the risk of leaking oil when the engine is on. Good luck with that.

​@@TheBuddillayou won't strip the threads unless you tighten it down like a gorilla. Most drain plugs are just a regular washer, not a crush washer. If it even leaks it would be barely noticeable.
