Thanks for doing this gave me the confidence to do mine. I didn't fancy taking out the drive shafts what you can do instead is separate the epb module from the metal braket 4x nuts then the module comes out easily between passenger side drive shaft and antiroll bar. Then reuse old braket. Thanks again Neil Conway

Not an easy job to do road side, well done. Good explanation, you should do more!

My module failed after 7 years, stuck on side of a road with the brake locked up. Had to tow to my local tyre shop. These modules are made in China for Hyundai, so I bought mine about half the price the dealer wanted just to supply, fitting was Hyundai "standard rates". My local tyre shop fitted everything up for about 1/3rd of the cost the dealer wanted. Works perfectly. Thought about doing this myself until I saw this video....too much headache for me.

Hello Mike wad hoping you could help me out, we have fitted the new epb assembly and all faults and codes have disappeared. The epb is kicking in and moving the cable near the shoes but it is not enough to engage the hand break any ideas?
@mechanicallymindedmike96773 ай бұрын
Have you replaced the brake shoes as well. And then re calibrated the new epb with the new shoes. Some say it's not required, but I do it anyways and I know my work is safe
@Aaron-bq9lf3 ай бұрын
Yes it was not working with the old shoes so they were replaced but still no luck. How do u go about recalibrating the epb pal because it seems that the motor and everything is working but not putting enough tension on the cable to engage the shoes. Thanks
@mechanicallymindedmike96773 ай бұрын
Should be checking shoe adjuster next then. So in order, remove old unit, remove old shoes (and adjust fully back on shoe adjuster) refit new unit, refit new shoes. B3fore anything else, adjust manual adjuster so shoes are just starting to bind. Using decent diagnostic kit. Handbrake in n off via the diag tool. This then sets the correct tension.

Best to do it on a hoist lift and lower the rear subframe enough to get module and cables out or you can attempt on on the ground but use 4x jack stands.

Lad 4 bolts lower the subframe can pull it out from the back lot easier
@mechanicallymindedmike96777 ай бұрын
You've seen these subframe bolts yeah... wish it was that easy. Hate these rust buckets
@chrisk91722 ай бұрын
Hello, is it enough to loosen the screws and lower the subframe? or does more need to be solved? exhaust, tank, cable or something?
@mechanicallymindedmike96772 ай бұрын
@chrisk9172 the 2 I've done. The subframe bolts seemed very corroded and I wasn't in tje mood to deal with snapped bolts. So went for the safer option

Just a quick question. Did you have to reprogram the EPB or anything of the sort?
@mechanicallymindedmike9677 Жыл бұрын
Yes. I used a autel mk808. There was an option to say it had a new unit. Can't remember the exact process off top my head sry. Essentially it's to calibrate the new unit to the car.

@@mechanicallymindedmike9677 hello Sir, i had to replace my Santa Fe DM Assy Brake Too but the local hundyai Mechanic Tell me there is nothing to reprogram
@mechanicallymindedmike9677 Жыл бұрын
I can only share what I done. When I fitted the new unit I went in to the brake settings via my diagnostics kit mentioned above and there's an option for a new unit. It cycled them on and off. And then said complete
@hellothere4342 Жыл бұрын
@@anonymousxxx9750 my personal experience and possibly easier method for doing this job. Jack car up onto stands, remove rear wheels,remove spare wheels. Put the jack under rear sub frame,24mm deep socket,remove 2 nuts, 2 bolts. Lower rear sub frame then it was tons of room to get at the EPB. I didn't need to reprogram my new module either.

@@mechanicallymindedmike9677 and before you done it, it had an issue? Thank you for answer Sir :)
@josephsteed8015 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, what was the original fault code for the issue?
@mechanicallymindedmike9677 Жыл бұрын
Rear o/s range performance on handbrake epb module Essentially rear handbrake was completely stuck on electronically. Common fault apparently. Don't have the exact fault code though sorry m8

Is it worth it to do that by itself or it’s better bring to main dealer?
@mechanicallymindedmike96779 ай бұрын
Depends how much money you got to spend fella.
@ricowswave13247 ай бұрын
You have to do all that process just to replace that module? Hyundai and Kia made that really awkward tbh
@mechanicallymindedmike96777 ай бұрын
Someone below has mentioned about removing rear subframe (dropping it down) the issue I find then is rear subframe bolts are rotten
