I even have some issues removing the prefilter from the HealthPro Plus sometimes... and I've used the unit for over 11 years, lol!🤔 It is not the easiest filter to change, for sure. That said, these 3rd party filters don't really look like they are of the same quality you get from IQAir.

My premax filter tray is as if sealed. It is NOT detaching from the section above as shown. Also, the arms don’t stay out … is there a trick to accomplish that? Suggestions? This process is hard every time but I’m not sure it’ll separate this time. It’s very frustrating.

Same here. The arms barely open. My tabs only extend 1/4 inch or so.

Karen, see my reply above under Vip Yoo. Using a pre-filter for your pre-filter, and then vacuuming the dust and dog hair off of that should make a big difference on the life of the filters.

Great instructions, but what is that cheap-looking cardboard prefilter? That doesn’t look legit.

That’s the first layer filter. Just like medical mask they use special fabric, which is light but can filter out a lot of small particles. It won’t get rid of orders or something toxic, that’s why IQAir has four super expensive cylindrical filters (MultiGas Cartridges) at the final step. All the HVAC system has similar things but our home HVAC system usually use low grade filters(i.e, none medical level). Theses type of filters don’t have to be packed by heavy duty plastic or wood that’s why they look like inside some cardboards (which is legit). What matters are the fabric they choose. IQAir pre filter is very think comparing to our HVAC filters.

Thanks- i don’t remember reading anywhere to remove the top. I’ve been struggling for years, trying to “slide” the bottom filter tray out. 🙄 It would have made a great comedic video of someone trying to keep both the side arms open at the same time and trying to get the bottom tray out. I dread the pre-filter changes.

I bought the PF40™ Replacement Filter Pads for my IQAir HealthPro. Where does it gets installed?

They go at the very bottom of the machine. Below the pre-filter. I bought the Filter-Monster Branded Replacement Pre-Filter Pad Pack Compatible with IQAir PF40 Coarse Dust Pre-Filtration Kit, 5-Pack. Lay one of the filters in the bottom of the frame that holds the pre-filter. Then put the pre-filter on top, then install the clips that hold the pre-filter down. I plan on laying the IQair machine on its side and vacuum the bottom pre-filter, once a week or every couple weeks. This should prolong the life of all of the filters above it.
