For those wondering. The tool used just pushes the piston in straight. There are many different tools that do the same job. It's good to use an old pad in between the tool and the caliper piston.

My personal choice is to clean the surrounding areas of the disc as well as the caliper and bracket, C class are well known for brake dust build up. Great video and very helpful nonetheless

Never mind cleaning the rotors before installing. This might be a sequence of repair, but ALL steps should be included. New people who have no clue what they are doing come to KZbin to learn out to do stuff like this. Leaving out steps is irresponsible at best.

My question is what part needs copper grease on as I've done this before but it caused a lot of squeaking? Is it the back of the pads 🤔

More precisely, what and where it is recommended to use a lubricant, you need to look in the repair instructions for your car directly.

very good video! but i had a question about this special tool you use for the brake caliper piston, is it nessecary to have one since i don't have this tool, and what exactly does it do thanks a lot!
@gwangju1
@gwangju1 6 жыл бұрын
You can use just about anything to compress the piston. People use C-clamps, big channel locks opening, I've even used the old brake pads and put a pry bar between them.
@autodocuk

Thank you for the feedback! For a qualitative and convenient replacement of the brake system parts, it is necessary to use this special tool.The special tool can be found in the shops of special tools. In case you don't have it, we strongly recommend you to visit a specialized car service center. Best regards, Autodoc.

Nice vid but why no disc wipe down, no torque setting and no mention wether the special tool was a wind back tool or if we can just use a straight push tool. Thxs for the vid for a basic over view.

My only comment is all straight forward up until removal of the 18mm caliper bolts. Mine have been done up by a gorilla. I tried impact wrench, releasing oil, breaker bar and everything I can do to move it and nothing all I have done is broke myself. I haven't tried any heat yet but was hoping tit would move. Anyone else found these really challenging?

Instead of showing a special brake tool that not many DIY's will have, maybe you should've shown how you can use the two old pads, the tyre iron and a screwdriver to lever the piston back.
@autodocuk
@autodocuk 3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the configuration of your car, you can find a detailed replacement manual in the service book of your car. If the required tool is not available, we recommend that you contact a specialized service.

Hub not cleaned, no anti-seize between it and the rotor, sliders not lubed, brackets not torqued neither were the wheels, no anti seize or brake Lube on the pad to caliper surfaces. Just like most mechanics would do, a half-ass job. Then I see people commenting and thanking you. This is the problem with KZbin. People think they're getting good instructions but are not getting complete info. No offense meant.
