This job is nothing like as straightforward as this video suggests. It CAN be done on a driveway and it can be done without an impact wrench. But at the age a car needs new shocks all of the nuts will be seized and corroded. There are two ball joints, one has a hex insert at the end and the other has a torx insert which requires an extremely short torx stub and a spanner to hold while you turn the lock-nut. Even if these inserts are not so corroded as to be unuseable you will almost certainly have to use a nutcracker to get the nuts off in the first place.. This will almost certainly mean that you will also have to buy new track rod ends in order to be able to tighten the lock-nuts using the torx and hex drives in the ends and this will almost certainly upset the tracking. The wheel nuts require 200 Nm torque to get them off and the only way to do this is with something like a weight-lifter bar levering the socket bar but supporting the axis on bricks and spacers of exactly the right height to prevent slipping. The eight-shaped-link needs to be undone at one end to make it possible to lever the lower ball joint down far enough at that awkward angle. I have managed to do one side and the other side should be more routine now I know the tricks and the order of progress but it annoys me that so many very difficult obstacles are glossed over in this video and it falls very short of being the helpful assistance it pretends to be.

Producătorii de amortizoare recomanda strângerea șuruburilor la amortizor doar după ce mașina este lăsată pe roți, și doar cu cheia, nu cu pistolul! E corect?

Shame that the 'old' original manufacturers bottom dust boot retention ring wasn't removed from the 'old' shock and fitted onto the new shock ! Most people don't realise it is there in the first place, or if they do, don't realise that it comes off - but it does. Attention to detail, please.
