Do you have to release the pressure before draining the fuel filter? Because I started to drain it but there is no end fuel keeps going. After two gallons of diesel I stoped the drain.

I've never come across an issue like that. You might want to look into that. Constant fuel suction sounds Interesting

Did you not prime either after changing?

I’ve got a 2014 Pete 389. have you ever had issues where after doing a PM, the fuel wouldn’t equalize in the tanks for several days. Sometimes about a week? That’s what ms happening to me. I’ve been doing my fuel filters at speedco and they must be doing something wrong because this has happened several times. Eventually goes away but very irritating. Might have to start doing it myself to ensure it’s done right. My best guess is that they are not priming the filters properly causing air to get in to the system. What do you think?

That is interesting, I've never come across something like that. I couldn't tell you what it is but I would recommend checking your air vents on the tank and your T's that equalize the tanks

Recmd not to service fuel systems if not below 2/3 tank(s) .best is full to minimize overall diff height and less air in servicing.

Thank you for this. If I change mine the exact way you did it, priming isn't necessary?

Just let the electric fuel pump run for a little while and you should be good

@@noturaveragemechanic7121 2016 mx13 epa 13 paccar doesn't have an electric pump like cummins but I did some research and I'm good. Thank you!

Priming IS necessary if you want your fuel system to remain uncontaminated, why do you think mkg installed a easy convenient primer pump, always refer to mfg recommended service procedures.
@edjahman2 жыл бұрын
@@sodbuster518able yeah I know. Old cats had a hand pump in the 90's. I did the paccar ones for the first time a few weeks ago. If you do them one at a time and leave fuel in the bottom parts, you greatly minimize hand priming. I wish paccar had the electric primer pump like modern cummins. Take care

@@sodbuster518able I'm all about recommend procedures. Real world procedures will sometimes be better then the manufacturers. I'm definitely not shooting off the hip while working on my MX13.

According to Pacar recommended practices your never supposed to pour unfiltered fuel into filter body, use hand primer only to draw from tank through to the filter.
@noturaveragemechanic71212 жыл бұрын
While yes that is true I do this for a small fleet and I do things quickly. It takes a long time to draw into the filter housing using only hand pump

Sometimes short cuts don't pay off when we're talking tight tolerance parts that contaminants in fuel can wipe out expensive components in these high pressure fuel systems, 5 microns can't be seen with the naked eye.

170 primer strokes is cheaper than thousands $of destroyed fuel ⛽ injectors and high pressure common rail pumps
@edjahman2 жыл бұрын
If you do the one on the frame first then the primary, you don't have to pour anything in.

The 22 model 579 with the MX13 no longer have frame mounted fuel water 💦 separator, only 2 filters in module on engine.First filter had high restriction at 9,000 mi on brand new truck.At 67000 mi haven't had First oil change yet but already 4 fuel filter . Fuel algea already started from transport buying cheap southern fuel.

Does the fuel tank have to be empty ?

No, you want fuel in your tank
