How to Change FZ/MT07 Fork Seals

After a good amount of wheelies and coming down hard in the parking lot it’s only a matter of time until you blow your fork seals. Lucky for you FZ/MT owners these are one of the easiest fork seals to replace. Thanks NateeNate for letting us use your shop/tools. Loosen 8mm bottom drain bolt
Drain oil
Remove dust seal
Remove seal clip
Pull forks apart
Inspect / replace bushings
Replace seal
Reinstall in reverse
Hit bottom bushing in with seal driver
Pound seal in with seal driver
Slide down dust seal
Remove 22mm fork cap
Add 400cc/ml of 15wt fork oil
Bleed air out of forks
Reinstall forks onto motorcycle

My spring, washer, spacer & cap is on. Damping rod turns but no joy on removing the screw. Even with impact any ideas?

I used a long flat screwdriver. Insert in the fork. Don’t scratch inner tube. The flat head will keep it locked in place while you lose.

@@arthercasillas2755 I just heated up the bolt (the 8mm Allen at the bottom) for 10-15mins. Then I put everything back in the fork. Then I compressed the fork on carpet & came off easy :)

you can do it with electrical tape, roll it around the pump and use it as slide hammer

My 8mm allen spins but wont come out?! It also will not tighten. Something is spinning in the fork? Halp

I stuffed a broom stick inside the fork and hit the 8mm with my impact driver, came apart no problem

@Calvin Cooper broom stick. Taper it like a pool stick and smack that sucker into the damper rod from the top of the fork. Have to smack it with your purse. Hold broom stick with pliers and use a hand ratchet to tighten allen. Remember the copper sealing washer. Spacer washer and spring must be out.

200cc per fork Or 400cc per fork?

403cm3 (403mil) is stock I'd recommend 410-415mil with 140mm spacer. If you're 75kg & above. If you're above 85kg will need 20-30w oil.
