Just replaced my glow plugs with the help of this video and the haynes manual. One thing this video fails to mention is to disconnect the battery negative terminal before doing anything else.

Not a single warning that glow plugs are quite fragile and you're in big trouble after breaking it. I wouldn't start the job after this video. You need to apply penetrating oil, WD-40 or some sort, and allow it to work for 2 days. Also, try to remove the old ones when engine is warm. Good luck

The thing is when you try it they won’t come out that easy. I’ll try anything on a car but not glow-plugs. One wrong move and a cheap job becomes very expensive.

Keep up the good work. I must get myself an air line, if only to blow away loose debris. One observation, having tried this myself, is that the glow plug socket tool needs to be very slender. I tried using a "Professional Deep Socket" which was 60mm deep which had a fatter section at the top half of the socket, and found that it fouls the cylinder head, on some of the cylinders. What advice do you have on use of penetrating oil and whether the operation can or should be done cold or hot (given your Captur video shows the engine being switched off at the start of operations)?
