A 5 minute video showing how to change the rear brake pads on a Hyundai i20. Sorry for all the wind noise it was a windy day.

Thanks for the video - I have a 2010 i20 auto and the layout must be slightly different to yours. I had to clamp the flexible and undo the banjo bolt to the caliper to remove it and release the pads. Also the top slider bolts on both slides had seized. I replaced all the slider bolts at a cost of £20 (Ebay) but I would recommend pulling the old bolts out and renewing the grease when the pads are replaced. Ian G

I suggest for your videos to buy a windsock to put over the microphone, you'll find it'll make a big improvement on hearing your voice.

what you have done is fine. might be good to grease the pins and show how to torque the bolts up as well. the piston can be pressed in with a g clamp and you need to check the fluid level as well

Watch out - i20 has two types of pads. Petrol models with 15" alloys has the larger CDRi deisel pads of the fronts, these larger pads are problematic in getting hold of from dealers and in the end had to buy them from Amazon. The main dealers and part dealers will supply you with the 4 smaller pads as in this video.

Greetings from India. I own a i20 Asta Diesel; thanks to you now I know how easy it is to change those squeaky brake pads. I am curious to know, did you bleed your brakes after changing the pads ? AFAIK the new thicker pads create an air gap in the master cylinder and the brake lines need to be bled to counter that.

Hi Greg. Looks like we have similar cars (if you still have it) do you know if the radiator has a drain plug - and how to access it. I can't find it and want to change the coolant. NK

Replaced my girlfriend's front brake pads on her 2013 model Hyundai i20 few months ago as they were down to the wear indicator. Unfortunately they've been squealing still - you wouldn't happen to know if I was supposed to use cermaic brake pads do you? I don't know if the replacements were or not but it could be an issue

you are saying that you have pushed the piston back with the hand?
@ColinKinsella4 жыл бұрын
So the piston and body just jumped onto the pads by itself onto the pads and did not need pushed or screwed back?

Couple of points 1.use a coat hanger or wire to hold up caliper whilst off 2.grease also back of pads and maybe you should take cap of brake reservoir to allow for expansion when you push back pistons in caliper!

While searching for information how to change the brake pads on my i20 (2015) I found your video. May be good for others to understand that your i20 is a model (mark) PB / PBT which needs HELLA PAGID type T1908 PA4016. The other car model is the i i20 II (GB) from 2014-2018 which needs other brake pads.

So if pads are fully worn and claiper piston out, how do you get piston in to allow for more room for new pads ?
@pqrstzxerty12965 жыл бұрын
Only way is big thick screwdriver or rachet extension rod and bar it shut. KZbin for it.

was it hard for you to remove the pad holder in the back? For my, the brake line(pipe) seems to short, I cant move the holder more than a few milimeters. and then it gets stuck

Same here, did you manage to get the caliper out?
@DaniLecx3 жыл бұрын
Well I just got it out, I was a bit scared of breaking the line but it got out with a bit of force ^^
