@@kennyg9149 engineering something to make a dealer money is in fact dumb from a engineering perspective. If you fail to understand/appreciate that you must be someone who doesn’t work on his own vehicle. I am a person who can handle anything a dealer can so it’s whatever to me. But stating this is brilliant engineering wise is just a short sighted ignoring view. Stealerships ripping people off isn’t brilliant nor appreciated. But the Infinity in this video is a total hunk of shit car in general. Terrible example of Japanese engineering

At least it's not like some of these newer cars where you need to use a scan tool just to do a drain and fill, but still annoying that they don't give you a fill plug at the top of the trans or a dipstick.

Hey brotha thanks for vid ,I had a question if my cooler lines are leaking am I able to change them without having to take out trans also that the only thing I could think of that would be leaking ive replace the heater hose coupler a couple months back tova aluminum one that's not leaking so I was thinking it has to be those cooler lines ,it's leaking from the passenger side area so that's why I thought it was the coupler hose but it wasn't.also is it a long & expensive job to do . This is very insightful and I appreciate you documenting it. I'm looking at buying a 2012 and was curious what type of work went into doing this. No dipstick is a huge bummer. I was curious though why so much fluid came from the fill plug. As far as I was aware hardly any if anything should come out of that plug, or is that normal?

There’s a plug in the front/top of the transmission where the fluid drops straight into the pan so you won’t need to force it into the drain plug with a special tool. I used a garden sprayer with the attachment removed and pumped it down the hole into the pan.

Question: It looks like you had just changed the pan as well (Still showing the very clean part number sticker on the pan). Was this a double flush you were doing you mentioned the fluid was quite dirty, how can that be as I assume the fluid was changed when the pan was replaced. I'm asking because you mentions some shifting issues. Was that before or after the pan changed. Thanks for the great vid. Very helpful.
@tazsfixes8368
@tazsfixes8368 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Marc, you are correct this video was recording the 2 time I changed the transmission fluid. Originally (2 months prior to this video) I drained the fluid , dropped the pan and replaced it . I only did this because Infiniti refused to change the transmission fluid saying the pan was sooo rusty the bolt might not go back on and seal. They wanted $1100 to change the pan and fluid. I thought that was way to expensive and bought the pan and seal from them for about $120 fluid was maybe $70-$80 and changed it. Even after doing it once before you can see the fluid is still pretty dark considering there is about 12-13 liters in there. When you drain it not all of it comes out. I personally do not suggest “flushes” which push all the fluid out as I had a transmission fail on me after it.

this is another great debate car guys have. If your fluid is too far gone it’s actually got friction material helping your transmission shift. It should never really get to that point but if regular maintenance is avoided and your kind of cornered. No one can say with certainty what the state of your clutch plates are without looking at them as it depends on many variables. I think 113k you should still be good to do a drain. This will introduce some new fluid helping cool and lubricate the transmission but this thing has like 14liters in total so it will dilute with the old.

Guys a clown 9 3/4- 10qts FROM INFINITI otherwise you’ll smoke your transmission. DONT let it drain
@93Tillinfini
@93Tillinfini Жыл бұрын
Your a clown 😂 🤡 they include enough oil to drop the pain or drain the pan TWICE. Only 40% of the oil come out when you drain the pan… the remaining 60% is in the torque converter, oil cooler/radiator, cooler lines, and residual. So your intended to use the 10 qts twice, in a primary change of 40% and a secondary change after a few hours driven. The new ATF mixes with the old and you drain again and replace with the remaining 5 qts. You then heat the trans to operating temp, and cycle the shifter, verify if more oil is needed, or allow to drain until at proper level as seen in this video. If you seriously put 10 qts in your car 12 days ago then I’m sure your trans has already is about to blow up 🤡
