ALWAYS! ALWAYS! Remove the fill bolt FIRST. If you don't or can't remove it and drain your fluids first, you';; not be able to refill the sump. You'll end up having to have the vehicle towed to the shop.

Very Good video. My transaxle was starting to while and I NEVER changed the fluid in the transaxle. Just thought that was an automatic transmission type of thing.

Dude, we need to see the effort used in breaking the bolts loose. Because really, that’s the hardest part of the job, let alone jacking up the car so all 4 wheels are level.
@footprintsinconc4 жыл бұрын
hi. no need to get all 4 wheels off the ground. the garage floor is just fine and level enough. just jack the front, remove the drain plug and lower the car back and let it drain. raise it back up and reinstall the plug and drop the car back down. my bolt came off pretty easy. get a longer extension if using a socket or larger arm crescent wrench.
@bboucharde3 жыл бұрын
@@footprintsinconc I am glad that a large crescent (adjustable) wrench worked for you, but over the decades, I have found that using a crescent wrench to apply high torque to loosen a bolt can ask for trouble. The wrench can easily slip off the head of the bolt and damage it. It is much better to use the correct metric socket. Both the fill plug and drain plug can require high torque to break them loose---in the range of 50 to 60 foot-pounds.

Thanks! The Haynes manual didn't show where my fill and drain bolts were so I wanted to check. I almost did the bolt right next to the fill bolt (whoops). This powertrain is also the same as the ones in the 06-08 kia spectra5 (I could imagine it would also be in the standard sedan spectra too)

i am not sure of that, confirm with dealer. you can check based on what your owners manual says....

i am not sure about the XG300L....look at the owner's manual. it should state what type of oil to use. the elantra manual gear oil is a GL4 type. you need to make sure you use the correct oil. automatic transmission oil is different.
@Mowerguy9412 жыл бұрын
does this apply to the 2000 gls, ive noticed that when the car is cold it shifts great, but after driving for a little it grinds into 2nd and grinds down shifting to 3rd and 2nd from 4th gear

Did you just do two bottles or did you go ahead and buy the third bottle and let the .8 sit forever?
@footprintsinconc3 жыл бұрын
@@ramjetplays9597 as it gets to the top, i had to add the fluid slowly. the key is to have a level surface, meaning 0 degree tilt, when you are doing this. if your car is leaning to the front, then you'll add less oil, if the car is leaning backwards, then you'll add more. if you are doing it in the garage, check the floor level between the tire. and stick something under the tire to make up for the difference. the garage is suppose to slope 1/4" per foot, but each floor panel (divided by the tool control joints) has a different slope...the 7 feet to the door slopes differently from right to left side of the garage.

I have a different hyundai manual transmission and I'm not finding any videos or websites talking about it. Just wondering how bad it is that the gears are whining? I haven't worked with any bad manuals and I don't know if I'm at risk for it to fail or if the tiny Hyundai Atos I'm considering to buy is whiny but okay. Just hoping for your thoughts on whining manual transmissions in general. Thank you.

Hi. I'd check with a mechanic in this to confirm. Personally, I would stay away from it...there are a lot if cars out there...no need to buy something that you are unsure of or has some issue that needs fixing.

PLEASE NEVER go under a car with out a jack stand.
@footprintsinconc4 жыл бұрын
that is correct. this can be done without you getting under the car. must use stands if you go under the car. the jack is lifting the front end just barely so you can get line of sight but you body is not under the car. the camera makes it seem like a lot of space.

You don't use a shifter to undo a filler or drain plug that's as rough as hessian undies that's how they get rounded, then poor me has to either belt a smaller single hex socket over the plug or weld a nut on to the plug to get them undone !! Always use the correct tool for the job to avoid probs. the correct tool would have been a socket and breaker bar or correct fitting ring spanner. And yes I am Autistic!!!! Lol😛
