On that front filter, the plug has a hex/allen in the middle of the head. Using a long bit, you can loosen and sneak the bolt and filter out without removing the header. The main filter gives me fits too. I use 2 small flathead screwdrivers and pry on both sides at the same time.

KTM’s four strike MX bikes are set up the same way with their oil filter. I use a pair of external snap ring pliers that that grabs that inner lip of the filter just enough to pull it out of there. Works great.

To remove the filter I bent a one foot long stiff wire in half to form a u shape. Then on each end of the wire bend the tips back to form small hooks. You can insert the hooks on each side of the filter to pull out the filter! Remember to keep it for next time.

In the KTM 390 Duke manual, it also said to fill oil in the clutch oil filler plug( the one with the hex screw), but doesn't say how many. This instruction is right after they say to put 1.7L in the manual cap. Does it really need to be filled by those 2 sides ?

Just tap a smal screwdriver with a hammer into that filter , and u can flick it out real easy.
