I have watched a bunch of videos and you are the only one that showed body positioning and contortions you have to do to get this done and I want to thank you for that! The Nissan engineers that thought this was a good place to put a sensor need to be flogged! Engineers need to work as a mechanic for a couple of years before they are given a drawing board! Thank you again! It looks like I will be cussing up a storm. These are the same Nissan engineers that designed the transmission cooler for the Pathfinder, Frontier and Xterra that fails and dumps engine coolant into the transmission and leaves you with a $4000.00 repair bill.

To anyone attempting this repair, it's helpful to get the hood as far open as possible. To get mine all the way back, I used a ratchet strap from my roof rack to the hood hook and it gave me MUCH more room to work with than the prop rod alone could have. Also, since it's only held in place by 2 10MM nuts and hose clamps, getting the heater hose assembly out of the way will give you a more or less straight shot to it. Just be mindful of coolant spilling. You will lose a bit. Make sure you have a collection container in place. Thanks for the vid.

So glad to hear that solved your problem. It's funny that my husband thought he might be dealing with a sensor issue with his 2016 ram truck. But it never threw a code, it just wouldn't start. It looks like just the battery, at this time. My 2019 ram has all sorts of sensors, electronic stuff that if anything happened, it would definitely have to go into the shop. My husband is a good mechanic, but that electronic stuff is pretty intimidating. Glad your problems fixed and no cursing to boot! Great job Eddie. God bless!

Hi Eddie ! Were you aware on the 2006 Frontier and Pathfinder, there are actually 2 Camshaft Position Sensors that toss out a P0340 code ? The one on Bank 1 is actually located on the Passenger Side ? You have to remove the Passenger Front Tire and lift the plastic wheel well cover to get to the side of the block above where the oil pan is. I was coding the P0340 and the dealer gave me the Rear one that you replaced. I replaced it and 40 miles later I got the same code again... I did a little further digging into this problem and found out that According to Specs, That is technically Bank 2, not bank 1. I replaced the other sensor on the actual bank 1 on the Right Passenger side of the motor and no problems since. It ir is located under a rubber boot with a 10mm bolt and it is in a tight location that requires a 5:yo 8" 1/4 inch drive extension and perhaps a 1/4 inch universal joint. Thought I would pass this along to a good honest man. I enjoyed your video ! God bless and have an awesome day Amigo.

I see you have the same paint flake problems I have. They were notorious on 2000s Nissans. My truck looks exactly like yours, is even an 06 and that color blue. My truck had the same issues as yours. I had put a new fuel pump in it at the end of May, but a few weeks later it began to quit on me 15-20 minutes into driving, and wouldn't crank back unless you let it sit for about half an hour. Replacing the cam and cranks positions sensors fixed it.
@papawsplace2 жыл бұрын
Hello Mr. Seth, did you have to replace the cam shaft tensioner. I had too at about 90K. They say this model had issues with the tensioner. I didn't do that work myself.
@teager32082 жыл бұрын
I had to change the connector for my cam shaft sensor on bank 1 an bank 2 because they were some kind of spring loaded things that didn't let you pinch them to release. So did the sensors and connectors. It was push and the pressure lifts the connector. After removing them they no longer made a connection an I bent the pins on the bank 1 sensor. Didn't know until later. Now if you replace them, I connect the wire connectors first and then place it an bolt it down. Thus you know it made the click and connected properly first. It's a first for everyone that tries this. Just take your time unlike me. It is a little more difficult but made it easier since I needed new plugs to remove the plenum and just get after it.

Thanks for that Tip Teager. I hope I never have to replace them again, it was a pain. LOL

The way this guy pulled that bank 1 sensor is the easiest approach. Be careful of the plastic tree going to the heater core on the passenger side, if you inadvertently put pressure on it they sometimes will crack. It’s a dealer part that comes with the lines press fit so it’s not cheap.
