It should be noted to also be wary of which battery you're plugging into as I've just found out buying the wrong pair. On the back of the controllers it should say. This video is for the "3.7V 1200mAh Rechargeable V2 Battery Replacement for Sony PS4 Slim Pro Bluetooth Wireless Dual Shock Controller Second Generation CUH-ZCT2 or CUH-ZCT2U New 2016 Version with Small Plug" i reckon. In this video the battery was grey and mine was black. And my black battery did not fit in properly and I'm glad I didn't force it so everything is fine I just need the 2016 and newer codes on the battery. Wished I had done more research beforehand. 😅 Don't be like me and look at your model number prior to opening up this damned thing lol

this may effect my repair attempts. i have a rather unique problem and no one has posted MY SPECIFIC problem on any forums that i can find. the controller that came with my fatty PS4 battery is worn to the point that the it only lasts about an hour, but every NEW controller I purchase has insane stickdrift, to the point that some games are unplayable this happens with EVERY new controller and no amount of "resetting" or "recalibrating" or "zero-ing" fixes the problem. so i want to put a battery from my "new/drifting" controller into my "old/dead" controller. how do i know what model my controller is without the model/serial number sticker? it's worn off.

@@aarondesch If you mean the Battery Model you can unscrew your controller and it should tell you all the details from your controller (voltage mAh and the Model Number in my case LIP-1522 for the small head just like the video)

Unclip by headphone jack first by pushing in with thin plastic tool. Pry upper out and lower push in.

Great video man, I also noticed I have problems all the time with the l2 or R2 buttons getting Jammed or stuck for example when I hold down it will stay down and not come back up, I have 3 controllers and 2 of them have this problem, it’s extremely annoying for games like call of duty or fortnite Will you consider doing a video on how to fix them it would be much appreciated. 👍🏻 ❤️❤️❤️

It takes a specific screwdriver. The phone kit ones aren't great for this. You need to press down hard for a few turns also. Not super easy. Kinda inconvenient.

interesting...my controller instead of having the battery connector in vertical position(like the one in the video) is in horizontal position and without a space to position well the cables. It makes me wonder how different the PCB of the controllers can be depending the continent(i think).

You dont have genuine real ps4 controller. Tons of fake China GARBAGE out there and they package exactly like genuine ps4. There usually lighter than real ps4 controller. You can use a digital scale that weighs oz. To compare to others. The sticker on the bottom will also usually be different than real ps4.

Is your controller a v1 or a v2 controller man?

Not v1 at least. v1 has slightly wider battery connector (4.5 mm vs 3.5 mm). Also the bottom plate holes for R2/L2 switches is different in v1. It was rather difficult to pry open and L2/R2 got stuck in the bottom plate. I managed to separate them though the hole and assemble back to top part with the springs that are returning them to non-pushed position. If disassembling v1 for battery replacement, be mindful for the R2/L2 switches. You may need to press them lightly to allow the back plate to separate. Much harder than in this video, but manageable as I got it back together. Haven't tested how the R2/L2 still work, though :) EDIT: Yes, works like a charm!

I ordered a battery for the PS4 controller... When it arrived the male connector from the battery was larger than the battery I was replacing... Then I attempted pull out the plug separating the two parts and the flat wire came away from the plug... Grrrrrr (foaming at the mouth)...

I think this is a prank video taking advantage of KZbin’s lack of downvotes. I did two controllers. Neither one opened anywhere NEAR this easily, and neither one will go back together. In fact, BOTH of them lost the springs in the trigger buttons using this method. I thought after it happened with the first one that it might have been a fluke or a duff controller because it was an older DualShock. But the second one was much newer and the same thing happened. Really bummed out, that’s two controllers completely destroyed now by following this tutorial.
