just to add you don't need to remove the back of the calliper to get the discs off (so don't need the XZN 14), the disc has enough room to lift out with it still in place

Good clean video as usual.... But you can change the rotor with removing the brake carrier. The carrier mounting bolts are a right twat to remove if seized. 👍

Hi. I have a same age 8P1 1.4 tfsi. Does it also need a XZN 14 for the brake calliper bracket fasteners? Many thanks.

Never put copper grease on brake rotors. Brakes get hot & it will drip potentially on to rotors. Use a fine grit sand paper to remove rust before mounting disks & same for when putting wheel on. Just blow off clean. Check slider pins & use silicone grease only on pins if stiff.

The rear rotors/disc can be taken off without taking the caliper braket off, works on non-quattro cars like this one.

By the looks of it, multiple bits + extensions were used to remove the calliper holder's bracket - could that not have been removed with a torque wrench? (Genuinely curious)
@jjmmjj99993 жыл бұрын
A torque wrench isn't used for breaking bolts loose. A breaker bar is And you wouldn't fit a breaker bar in the wheel arch, hence the use of extension bars

I’m stuck at removing the bracket. With the car on jack stands there’s almost no room for any tools in there and the bolt is seized pretty good. Waiting for a shorter M14 bit to come it right now

@@ronw6372 I had the same issue... It was a right pain, but I was eventually able to get the disk off without removing the bracket

@@justinmoore4010 I believe the non Quattro version the disc comes off without taking off the bracket. It’s such a PITA im about to take it to my mechanic. If you have the Quattro version please let me know how you did it. Thanks.

@@ronw6372 iirc what i did was loosen the shock absorber bolt on the bottom, put a jack under the hub and lower it a bit to get more room.

Should never use WD40 around brakes,........WHY? Petroleum products damage rubber. & the rubber keeping the grease in on the slider pins will get destroyed within weeks or hours. Poor
