One thing to point out, when you put back the cover, be sure to slide it over the locking mechanism so that it is underneath the cover so the blades are able to rotate. Otherwise, if the lock is engaged the motor will not work...Thanks Joe for the great video.

Joe, just saw lines on the cherry I was planing. Did a search for how to rotate the blades on my DW734 and your video came up. Followed your procedure and the lines are gone after a couple more runs. Thank you!

Joe basementwoodworking I had no idea until I went to enter the comment and saw that post on it. Thought it was a bit risky grabbing for blades :-) Next time!

Instead of risking cutting yourself use the magnets on the handle of the T wrench to extract the blade. Thanks for the video.

THANKS! tbh i didnt realize there were magnets on the wrench!! WOW LOL!!

The handle end of the T wrench has built in magnets. Use those to lift out the blades. Also, apply anti-seize lubricant on the threads of the bolts holding the blades. Will make easier to remove them in the future. I speak from experience.

Good insight Joe, mines got 30 or so small blades offset over the diameter & that's a tedious chore changing them, these DeWalt thickness planers are pretty cool 😎👍
@tooljunkie5557 жыл бұрын
is that a helical head/blade? I don't know because mine are straight but I could imagine the chore of that..lol if that is what the helical head is I don't think I'll ever get helical head blade LOL thanks for watching bro appreciate the support

Thanks for watching and commenting appreciate the support! Use the magnetic T-wrench to get the blades out I've learned that's ALOT easier and safer!
@Hemidakota Жыл бұрын
You can reverse the blades since they are still good. After both sides of the blades are thrashed, then replace the blades.

Those rings sure are pretty. And so are those fingers if you ever pull your had back on reflex and you catch one on something. I've seen it happen. Not a good idea wearing those oh so pretty rings.

you totally left out the part about the locking lever being tucked back under the hood when you reassemble it.
@tooljunkie5555 жыл бұрын
Thanks for noticing watching and commenting although I think it's pretty self-explanatory that you should put it back on because that's what holds the blades on and I dd show how to put it back on in the video.. I just didnt explain it which again is pretty self-explanatory but thanks for watching, commenting and noticing that. Now people will know about it .👍🏻👍🏻
@xxGeeksGoneBadxx4 жыл бұрын
@@tooljunkie555 he is talking about the locking lever :) the thing that holds the blade assembly in place from turning when you are working on them
@evanglading96583 жыл бұрын
Varitech I went through same conundrum. Finally realized the tool tray keeps the blade locking mechanism depressed. 👍
