How to change spark plugs on a Honda Crosstour

Here is a quick guide on how to change the spark plugs on a Honda Accord Crosstour. Video is very lengthy so I tried to reduce it by speeding it up most of the time. Thanks for watching!

I have changed the spark plugs on this car three time so far in an interval of about 25K-30K miles and I believe I’m gonna have to keep doing this since it’s a common issue with this car where oil quickly builds up and also a reason why I have to keep topping it off between each oil change because it burns oil more than expected.

@@AlbanianFix You might want to check with your Honda dealership. There was a service bulletin on the 2010. I had it in for the service (no cost) and then again where they rebuilt the top half of the engine (no cost) because of a flaw with the VCM. I had this done at 73,000 miles and have had no issues since then. I'm now at 166,000 miles and will be replacing my plugs again since I had them done when they rebuilt the engine.

What's the firing order on the Honda Crosstour? I replaced one of my cylinder ignition coils and my car was still misfiring so I took it to my mechanic and he said my spark plugs needed to be replaced on all of them but he then told me i put the ignition coil on the wrong one. The man at Autozone said it was a code p0303 which is the third ignition coil so I went according to the diagrams i saw on line showing number three being the third on on the side closest to the cab of the car. My mechanic said they fire in a zig zag order so the one that I thought would be number 2 was actually number 3. Is this the case with your Crosstour also?

No sir, I didn’t had to remove the whole ignition coil, just did a spark plug replacement. But now It know to be extra careful when I replace the ignition coil like you mentioned. Thanks!

What are the best spark plugs to use? Supposedly, with the right plugs one can go 75,000 miles between plug changes.

VCM or vehicle cylinder management causes engine in crosstour to burn lots of oil for some reason. That's why plugs looked like that. You either have to replace plugs more regularly, or add bypass so that it only runs in 6 cylinder mode.

I wonder if I’m being messed with. I’m selling my Crosstour and one mechanic claimed to hear an engine noise at idle but my engine sounds identical to yours and no one else has found anything wrong with it. It’s a well maintained car and I’ve only put 4,500 miles in it since 2019 when I got it.

That’s a good idea but still take their advice with a grain of salt because dealerships are still stealerships. 60%-70% of their profit comes from maintenance. There is only so much money in selling cars from msrp.
