This will be my first time working on a Lexus. Doing a favor for one of my patients Replacing coil and spark plugs 2 and 8. Looks like both on the left side from front of engine based on firing order. Thanks! ❤

👍Subscribed!!! Watching from Arkansas, USA. Your videos are by far the best I've seen for instruction on service and repair of these awesome machines. Great camera angles, the clear and simple step by step narration including part numbers, torque specs, tools and supplies needed, and little tips to make the job smoother.. its all there, start to finish. You are now my guide for these tasks on my beloved 100.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate it. You can expect more of this in future from a couple of Western Australians! Cheers

These are known for staying pretty dry, but 2 common places to get leaks are the valve cover gaskets and o-ring at the base the engine oil dipstick tube. Both of these jobs are doable for a DIY if you know what you're doing. I'd LOVE to see vids on them!

Great video. Could you please show how to change the transmission fluid and filter on this 100 series V8?

I really like your videos. I appreciate how you get straight to the point. I don’t have to fast forward at all to get to what steps need to be done. One question, do you ever use a little dielectric grease on the rubber boots of the coils? I have had a couple fellow 100 owners report that their boots had crumbled during the removal process. Added a lot of time and choice words trying to get the rubber debris out. Also I was hoping to see how you got to the #8 spark plug. I had a tough time myself. Maybe you had a more clever way than I. Great job all around. Thanks for making these well done videos.

Hi Bee Mats, thanks for watching and we appreciate you taking the time to comment. There shouldn't be any problem with that as long as you are careful with where the grease goes (due to the insulating properties), but if anything this may help to prolong the life of the rubber. We don't show it in our videos as we try to follow the factory service manual and in this case it wasn't mentioned, however it is a well known practice for ignition coils. With that bracket removed, we found all of the spark plugs on that side manageable to get to with some basic socket extensions, though the engine bay may look a bit different on the left hand drive models!

Another great vid. What about break pads?

Thanks Will. Brakes are definitely on the list including a full system flush and bleeding. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the informative video. I noticed you didn't put anti seize on the threads of the spark plugs. Is that recommended by the factory repair manual? Any input would be appreciated as I plan to take this on as my next preventative maintenance project. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for watching! We aim to follow the factory service manual in our maintenance videos, and in this case the FSM does not make any mention of applying anti-seize to the spark plug threads. However, some people will do this regardless of whether it is included in the vehicle FSM. If you do, just keep in mind that applying anti seize products to the threads also lubricates them (versus dry threads), and therefore the tightening torque value should be adjusted (decreased) versus what was specified in the FSM for tightening a dry plug, so as to not over-tighten. I.e. a lubricated thread will require less tightening torque to achieve the same tension in the shank of the bolt, or spark plug in this case

@@2ndGearLow thanks so much for the clarification. I have heard of others on the forums say the same thing, as to not apply anti seize to the spark plug threads. Thus, I will be doing the same when I undertake this project. Thanks again, and your detailed videos with the torque specs are much appreciated!

Hey dude! I had an error code p0302, so I’m trying to find out where the #2 cylinder is on my Land Cruiser, I’ve got the same one as yours and wanted to ask if you can tell me which of the 8 cylinders is #2 (example: from the front of the car, is it the first one on the left )?
