Spark Plugs and Coil Packs 2UZFE

Replacing all 8 spark plugs and coil packs. 6 of the coil packs are original with over 280k miles on them. 2 had failed within the last 2 years, so I replaced those with aftermarkets coil packs, which have failed since. Figured I would go ahead and replace them all with DENSO packs and plugs.

You can get 8 Denso Iridium plugs and 8 Denso coil packs from Rock Auto for 500 bucks. I currently own 3 vehicles with the 2uz-fe. It seems like around 225-250k or 20 years old is a good time to change them out, the coil packs. My 3 have 900k between them all. 2 Land Cruisers and a Tundra. I like to them preventatively as this is a common failure point as these get older, cheap insurance. Thanks for the video!!

Nice! That's where I got my coil packs from. That is exactly when mine started to fail, and after doing 3 on the side of the road i thought let me treat it to 8 new Densos and get it over with!

Coil packs are expensive but i plan to replace mine between 100 and 150 , probably closer to 150,000

Yea they definitely are. After 3 failing i figured you just put new ones in all and be done with it. I plan on taking good care of this thing and not just getting by!

Just a heads up. The spark plug tube seals are failing, oil should not be present in the spark plug tube. This will cause misfires in the future.

Hey thanks! Yea looks like i need to do that side Valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals as well. I did the drivers side 10k miles ok as it was leaking a bit more. Will post a vid on that soon!

How do you know when to change the coil packs. Also should I also replace the spark plugs wires all around ?

hey! So normally you wouldn't need to replace them until they fail and you get a check engine light or misfire. Since I had 2 of them fail recently and the originals had 285k miles on them, I decided to replace them all. These vehicles do not have spark plug wires.
