What a great video. The camera on your head doing the the valve cover gaskets was pretty good as well. Did a good job.

@hughmann1908Ай бұрын
Do that pads require any special bedding on Carbon rotors?
@normalguysupercarАй бұрын
I believe there's some process
@AB-80XАй бұрын
Yes. The T4300 compound should be bedded as follows. Start by doing 6 stops from 100 to 60 mph fairly gently. This is just to seat the pads and get some heat into the system. Use medium acceleration between stops. Then 10 stops from 120 to 60 mph. Full breaking power without activating the ABS if possible. Full acceleration between stops. If you can't smell the brakes, you're not breaking hard enough - you need the discs glowing. Then drive for 2-3 minutes at 60-70 mph without applying brakes. Then do 6 more stops like the first gentle stops on the way back. Be careful and only break very gently when you're driving back. Let the car sit for about 24 hours.

Just FYI, noticed u did not rotate wheel a bit to check for binding etc., it's always a good thing before torquing everything down. Otherwise great vid and nice to see there are still some DIY items on the new generation of digital wiz bang sport cars, well done.

How is the Minimum of brakepads in mm ? And when comes the light on the Dashboard? Best regards
@normalguysupercarАй бұрын
The light comes on when the sensor rubs the rotor.
@BaitschevАй бұрын
@ yes I know but is their 3 mm brakepads or less? I have 5 mm best regards

Can the roters on these be resurfaced? We might be tempted to say they don't need it, but let's say they are pitted.
@rpracingproductsАй бұрын
You replace them if they are too pitted.
@christschoolАй бұрын
@@rpracingproducts So they can't be resurfaced?
@normalguysupercarАй бұрын
They cannot be resurfaced
@AB-80XАй бұрын
@@christschool No. They cannot. What you want to do is to upgrade to Surface Transforms CCST rotors. Cheaper than stock, much better and newer technology, and they can be resurfaced 3-4 times, not to mention they are much longer lasting than the OEM CCM rotors which is essentially 30 year old technology. The CCST rotors are the same rotors which are used by Koenigsegg and other high end cars like the new W1 and such. I have them on a Pista. 488 and F8.

interesting they have a pin to knock out... is that normal on other cars?

No grease on back of pads needed to reduce noise?
@normalguysupercarАй бұрын
Eh they should be fine. Will probably squeal anyways because carbon ceramic rotors aren't always quiet
@AB-80XАй бұрын
It can help a bit, but not much. It's more important that you bed the brakes properly.

Thanks for this how-to! I might just get the courage to do this myself one day. I wonder how much a dealer charges for this job. BTW, those 2 rear pins don't look like they went back through as far as they were initially. Maybe it's just my impression.

@AB-80XАй бұрын
I like the newer caliper found on the Speciale, 488, F8 and 812 much better. Take them off, pop out the two pads and snap in the new pads. Job done.

Damn, a maintenance job on a Ferrari that's straight forward and easy. 🙃 Why do Ferrari's use lug bolts instead of studs and nuts?
@normalguysupercarАй бұрын
I'm not sure but once you get used to them you prefer them. Many European manufacturers do that.
