There are two air-bleed screws to allow trapped air to escape, during filling, one at the top of the left side rad, and the other at a coolant pipe at the front of the engine, open the lower one first, until coolant runs out and close it. Coolant level should be at the base of the filler neck when completed properly. Run it after filling, allow to cool, and re-check the level in the rad.

STEPS TO DIAGNOSE A DRZ400 THAT'S LEAKING COOLANT: This comment is for anyone like me whose DRZ is overheating and/or leaking coolant: If you don't have an internal or external leak, you may just have an air bubble in your radiator. Before you go on and try any of the below steps, first try and bleed air out of your system (lookup a KZbin tutorial on it, it's not that hard to do). Also if your bike is overheating but you have no coolant issues, make sure you turn your bike off at stops or add more powerful fans to your radiator. STEPS TO A COOL DRZED: Assuming you are losing coolant and/or overheating still, then: First you need to find the source of the leak. Check #1: Are you losing coolant but not seeing any visible leaks? Then: every time you stop, look under your bike and see if it leaks some coolant/water, or when you get home take off your skid plate and look closer for coolant residue. If you have a leak, then skip to check #3. Check #2: if you're losing coolant but you definitely have no outside leaks, then Check your oil with a flashlight to See if you can see any coolant in your oil. Also check your coolant to see if there's any oil in your coolant. If you see some in one or the other Then this is worst case scenario and you're going to have to take apart the engine or clutch case and replace the head gasket or possibly replace the two o-ring seals in your water pump. (PS coolant comes in blue and green so don't freak out if you see some blue coolant in your green coolant, as long as they're both 50/50 then it should be fine). Check #3: Is the coolant leaking out of a tube, a radiator/ radiator cap), or a hose? Then duh, replace it (Side note, you should replace radiator hoses whenever they get badly cracked, bulged outwards, and/or brittle. Plus radiator hose is coming pretty colors so have fun). Check #4 find your water pump. It's attached to a radiator hose and usually close to or part of your clutch case. On a DRZ, Take off the plastic guard and you should be able to find a small hole towards the bottom front of the water pump. Touch your finger on or around this hole. If you're coolant is leaking from there Then that means one or both of the two o-rings for your water pump need to be replaced. Don't ride your bike until you replace those seals, if both seals fail, then coolant can get into your engine... (side note, in order to replace these seals you got to take off your clutch case in which I would say look up DRZ full tear down on KZbin, there's a playlist that will really help and figuring that out) Check #5 If it's leaking out of a small tube then check and see if the tube got detached from the overflow reservoir. (Or in my case make sure you have a damn overflow reservoir lol). This took me a couple days to find all this information and source it down to the problem so I hope me taking an hour to write this comment will save you some time. Cheers mate.

@DjClarky785 жыл бұрын
@@frostyclown3292 Will try and do some more vids on the future. Top tips though: (not trying to sound patronizing). Live in Australia, and have been riding in some remote conditions. Avoid riding alone (have broken this rule loads :-( Always go out with a full tank of fuel. Always go out with a charged mobile phone (Cellphone) Take 5L (1.3 Gallons) water with you. Take some high calorie food (Mars bars etc) Backpack to carry water it in - lot to carry by hand if you break down (5kg/11lbs) Know where the nearest road is (North/South/East/West) Compass so you know which was to walk. No point walking 3 days in the wrong direction. Important - always let friends/family know where you are going, and when you are planning to get back. Get a GPS or a GPS App on your phone (Like Gaia GPS or similar) to help you out if you get lost. I have a PLB (personnel locator beacon - emergency GPS device that works globally) with me at all times (after years of not having one). Imagine a nasty broken leg, snake bite or similar when no-one is around. Good luck
