I hope you don't mind, but I think from what I learned today, there is the chance that there is a little too much oil in your engine. I had a chat to one of the tech's at my local Benelli dealer. I bought some oil and a filter from them in readiness to do an oil change on my 2020 TRK 502. They pointed out that there is a tiny arrow pointer cast in to the side case against the edge of the sight glass. 3.2 litres is the specified amount in the service workshop manual. This amount fills the engine up to the level of the cast in arrow. "L" signifies the lower level it is safe to run the engine and indicates that you need to top the level up. "H" signifies that this is a the highest level of oil it is safe to run the engine with and indicates that you really should adjust the level down to the cast in arrow marker. The lady tech I spoke to today checked this procedure up on their computer for me, and confirmed the 3.2 litres quantity was the amount specified by Benelli themselves. I have found the pointer on my engine and painted a small "White Dot" on it to make it easy to find.

Another good vid mate. Worth noting that as long as you’re careful, nothing wrong with using a screwdriver or drill to remove an oil filter. Can sometimes be helpful, as you can drain any oil sitting in the filter before removal.

Useful video for newbies. A couple of things, I looked at oil filters and found different suppliers showing different HiFlo models. I ordered one from AliExpress !! Took 10 days to come. I'm happy that it's a genuine Benelli filter for around £7. Actually ordered another for next change. When I drain the oil , I do it on the side stand as bike then leans in direction of sump plug. Filling , I Don't use the centre stand as bike is slightly raised at the rear. I use a block of wood under the side stand and I'm afraid to say , a spirit level across the fuel filler. How anal is that ?? Finally , I made the same mistake with the filter tool. I thought I had one. The filter needs a 68mm wrench . Got one off ebay about £5. Not very common, most filters seem to be 68mm.

I'm thinking of getting a Honda cb 500x. But just come across this bike it looks fantastic. What would you recommend.
@BikeRiderReviews3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the review. I am big fan of Honda bikes and own two Hondas at the present time. I don't think you could go wrong with either the cb 500x or the Benelli. However my personal choice would be the Benelli. It is a larger bike and has more road presence. From other reviews I have watched comments have been made saying the TRK feels more stable on the road and I personally feel the Benelli is far better value for money. Check out my channel, I have a road test video, accessories video and long term ownership review of the Benelli which may be some use to you. Ride safe 👍

Thanks for checking out the channel. I have been asked this type of question many times and the answer is simply it depends on the rider. It depends on your confidence, skill level, experience and even your physical build. All I can say is if you can handle the height and weight of the bike then it is an extremely stable and easy bike to ride. I think power wise the jump is not to big for this bike. Ride safe 👍

thank you Sir for the tutorial 🙏🏻 I have a question my friend give me some new oil after he sells his gs1250 the oil is 5w40 motorex boxter 4T, so can i use it for my the trk 502 ?
@BikeRiderReviews5 ай бұрын
Hi, oil should be Oil 10W - 50 (synthetic) Jaso - MACCMC g4 3. 21 ltrs for the TRK. The 10W number indicates the viscosity of the oil when the engine is cold and the 50W when the engine is hot. The oil you mention has a lower viscosity. The lower number is important for when you first start the engine from cold, and the higher number for when the engine is running hot. If the oil becomes to thin at running temperature, it is less effective at lubricating your engine.

Apologies if I'm gate crashing this comment. Good video on the oil change and useful to know the key points. I bought one of these in March 2021. (The 502 TRK non X street version.) It has been a real success in my case. It rides really nicely, is smooth as silk, has plenty power and is a joy to get out on. I'm planning on road touring on mine in the future. It's the right bike at the right price and the quality is pretty much as anything else in the market especially allowing for the modest purchase cost.

Why didn't you buy the triump tiger sport?
@BikeRiderReviews3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the review. Mainly because the looks of the Tiger don't really appeal to me, neither does the Suzuki V Strom. If ever I do replace the Benelli I think it would be the Honda Africa Twin Sport 1100, however at the moment they are still a little pricey on the second hand market and I cannot justify spending that much when the Benelli does everything so well for such a competitive price. Ride safe 👍
@Antimortem3 жыл бұрын
@@BikeRiderReviews can't argue with the benelli trk , but where I live it's priced as the versys, but some argue the engine character is way better. Benelli trk sold in many countries, it's reliable too, as you mentioned about solid panels that fits the first time all the time 👍
@BikeRiderReviews3 жыл бұрын
@@Antimortem Wow, priced the same as the Versys. To be honest I think the TRK is certainly on par with the Versys. I really believe that as time passes and people see the quality of Benelli bikes, they will become far more acceptable and more coveted brand, unfortunately I think we are also about to see the increase in price which will also follow. @@Antimortem Silkolene is a British brand. I have used it for over 20 years and I have used it in some very high performance home built custom engines. Because of this I trust it 100% as it has never let me down. At the end of the day I'm sure most well known modern brand oils are excellent. I just tend to stick with what I know is proven to work. Too much oil! Benelli recommends with filter only 3L, not 3.2...... you're supposed to fill it to lowest mark, let it get a little bit warm WITHOUT revving it, and then fill between low and high.... never ever fill above high/max... Check you Manual on Site 147 or Chapter 6-12...
@BikeRiderReviews3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the review. The manual I have is the Benelli Trk 502 PDF version. Page 22/408 oil capacity with filter is 3.21 litres. I have always filled my bikes and cars to the full line with no issues. As I say in the video I am not a qualified mechanic however I have owned bikes for over 30 years and have never had any issues with using this method. Ride safe 👍🙏
@williamstianaka31503 жыл бұрын
@Bike Rider Reviews Could you check on the first pages what's the date on your manual? I just found a 2017 version online and yes, 3.2l indeed. On my 2018 manual version it said 2.8 without and 3.0l with filter. But to my knowledge, there were no changes to the engine that should impact the amount of oil. But as you can see on the little window it is a little bit to much..
@BikeRiderReviews3 жыл бұрын
@@williamstianaka3150 All can say is after I put in 3.2 litres and allowing time for the oil to settle the oil was not showing the correct level. I am also using an after market oil filter which may also account for effecting the capacity. Ride safe. 👍

There was a Video Like 2 Weeks ago of someone comparing benelli and Other Main Brand Filter without any Big Difference. Maybe you are both correct, we should try to get a Professional Response for this issue. Sadly i cant contact benelli cuz they dont have official contact for German customer. Maybe my Workshop know a reason
@BikeRiderReviews3 жыл бұрын
@@SyVlogsMotorcycle Just a quick update on this issue. I took your advice and consulted with the vehicle fleet manager where I work who is a qualified mechanic. This was his response. The oil level is deemed to be safe as long as it is between the low and full marker. Usually after an oil change an engine will burn oil away until it matches its oil balance tolerance for the age and wear of the engine. He stated some engines such as volkswagen are known for burning more oil than others. Therefore he recommends after an oil change, fill to the full mark. The engine will naturally burn a percentage of this oil and will then settle at a level somewhere between the low and full mark. This level should then be maintained. He stated the problem with only filling to half way between the low and full mark after a service is that if the engine is worn or of a design which is known for burning oil, it may drop below the low level and damage the engine. He also pointed out filling to above the full mark may also damage the engine. I hope this clears things up for everyone 🙏 ride safe 👍
