2:48 I was using Logix Designer version 32.02.00 and found that the settings I needed to change during runtime weren't on the Port Configuration tab, but the Internet Protocol tab.

Hi was wondering if you can give some advice and I know this video was made a long time ago. I need to change the IP addresses on a PLC with two ENBT network modules. Was looking at the warning you get before you change the IP address and just wanted to see if you know if you can for sure change the IP while online and it will not affect the operation of that PLC. Its a critical PLC in the facility. Thanks

Hello Ian, sorry, just discovered these older comments. Fairly certain that you would loose, at least temporarily, communication with the PLC, which can cause a shutdown on up- & downstream equipment, if the Controller communication goes Offline.

Thanks for the great tutorial. I want to change the etherNet IP communication module in the system, if I directly put it in the system it doesn't work. Maybe I have to put the IP using the software. Kindly clear it to be, what are steps needed.

You have to change it in the module configuration (Studio 5000 project) and the physically assigned IP on the card. You can match them if you do the change online, but you will loose connection.

+Quyen Huynh sorry for the long delay in responding. Hopefully, you resolved this by now. Otherwise, do you know the IP address of the PLC? It is often easiest to access the PLC via serial or USB connection and set the IP address of the PLC to match your network. Maybe it hasn't been set?

hi, i am also new to AB programming, i have to change an IP address of a controller from an IP address of 10.200.56.21 to an IP 100.0.0.214. i set my PC IP address to the same range as the controllers current address just changing the last digits to 254. i have tested my communication link with the plc and i can go online. because the new ip address is in a different range when i change and download will my laptop allow this to happen? as it is a completely different network range. how can i over come this if i don't have a serial connection to do the download only an Ethernet connection available.

Hello David, what is the hardware? Did you set the subnet mask correctly? You can also set an "Alternate IP" address in the Advanced Configuration menu, if you only have one physical link, but two different network ranges. Hope this helps!

very informative video, however i do believe it would have been easier to do this modification in Rslinx Classic...just to save time and prevent accidents when taking components offline.
