Clint, what motivated you to change the fuel filter? Time? Any performance issues like stalling? Novice here.

Is it easier to undo the plastic clip on the hose clamp to remove the clamp and filter all from the body?
@Engineerboy1002 жыл бұрын
Someone suggested removing the hose first it was easier that what I did. Try that it has a quick disconnect.

@@Engineerboy100 I'm referring to the clip that holds the fuel filter assembly to the coolant tank. Around 12:35, you pop the assembly off when tightening the fitting nut on the output side of the filter. Seems like it might be easier to unclip this, remove the incoming and outgoing lines, and then swap out the filter inside the clamp ... on your bench.

Hey Clint. I really appreciate these videos I'm learning a lot. I've got a 2004 so everything you do will greatly help me. Just a comment that someone told me a while ago. When changing the fuel filter it might be good to pull the fuel pump fuse and starve the engine which in turn reduces the pressure. This should reduce the potential of fuel spewing out and getting over the engine. Just a thought. Does that make sense? I've ordered my fuel filter and will be trying this out next week when it arrives. I'm waiting for you to change out the spark plugs because I think you need to get them replaced every 30K miles. Thank you again, great work. I'll be ordering the light savers shortly. Without your video I would not have known that mine are also cracked. I guess that is a common problem.

Yes, draining the fuel by removing the fuse and running the engine until it dies is a good idea. You can also relieve the pressure at the filter with the schrader valve or, like I did just disconnect the battery. Good point. Yes, the cracked taillight mount flanges is very common on these cars. I didn't know until my neighbor told me to check mine ... and that is what motivated me to make Light Savers for myself, then a few friends, then some of the guys on 6-speed and rennlister then countries all lover the world lol

My car came from Australia originally, and I'm in the UK. My car already had the lights savers installed when I bought it. Great invention Clint.👍
