How to give an old tractor (McCormick International 434) an oil change and filter clean.

My bonus grandpa has a 434 too when i get my tractor driving licence i'll bring it home for service and repair the electricity on it 😁

Great vid, nice to see the old girl again, I’ve just bought a 434 at last, this going to be one of my first jobs, quick question I noticed you got a plough lamp on rear fender, what diameter is the light?

Thanks! The actual lamp light itself (the glass) is 125mm across (4.9 inches), and the total circumference of the lamp is 150mm (6 inches) ... hope that helps! Feel free to throw any other questions at us 🙂

Can you tell me where the diesel filter is or have you got a video of changing the diesel filter please

If you're sitting on the tractor, it's underneath the hood on the left hand side, just beneath the air intake manifolds (I'd personally take the whole cover off to change it just to make life easier!). Next time I run out of fuel I might change it and do a video!

Hi,i have a 434 IH and i didnt know you could clean the oil filters out.Mine has a wire case around the paper filter but the rest looks the same.I may try to wash mine out with gas and reuse it also.Thanks

Yeah - I've found you can't keep re-using them indefinitely though! I've washed them for lawnmowers and chainsaws etc as well - would maybe do it once or twice before looking at just buying a new one 👍

How many hours can be used changed new oil

According to the Owners Manual for this tractor, it says every 120 hours of running time it should be changed, but to be honest we're guilty of doing it much less than that!

I have the same tractor, it came with the house we recently bought. Are you going to do a video on changing the hydraulic oil next? I need to get around to doing mine

We actually did it not so long ago but didn't do it on video. We used the same type of oil as the other stuff - should we do it again we'll record, but we do have the workshop manual if you wanted us to copy off some pages for you to refer to?

Congrats ashley my bonus grandpa tage hansson also has a mccormick international 434 it looks cool and i love tractors, in my room on the shelf i got 5 favourite tractors in models (all though i got many more favourites including cars) a Porsche 308 Super Diesel, Ferguson TE 20, Lanz Bulldog, Valtra T191 and Fiat 880 DT. We also got a Fiat 880 D backhoe tractor :)
