Follow along as I show you how to change the motor oil in s 2007-2014 Ford Expedition with the 5.4 engine in it. You should also be able to apply the basic steps shown in this video to many other year Expeditions with the same motor in it.

Great video. Those 5.4L 3V Expeditions and F150's have an issue with oil conduits getting clogged up and starving the top of the engine when oil changes are neglected or when cheap oils are used. Best practice is to change oil regularly and only use good quality synthetic oils + quality oil filters, as you did in this video.

You are correct. Also if you have to change the oil every 3,000 miles with cheap oil the synthetic isn't all that much more when you consider going 7,500 miles between oil changes.

@@HomeOwnerRepair Exactly, this is what I've always done myself as well. I just sold my 99 Ford Explorer with the 4.0L SOHC motor in it, which was famous for bad timing chain tensioners (hydraulic tensioners which work with oil pressure). The truck always had good quality synthetic oil and regular oil changes, plus a good quality oil filter + a magnetic oil drain plug (aftermarket part, but very useful). I sold it with 210,000km on it and the buyer couldn't believe how quiet and smooth the engine was. No timing chain rattle whatsoever and no burning of oil either. Good maintenance pays back for itself in the end!

Greetings to all of you. I have a question. I live in a country with a very hot climate. What is the appropriate oil for a 2014 Expedition? There is a number 5w20 on the hood, but I don't know if the oil will work at this speed? Its temperature reaches 50 degrees

The owner's should state the recommended oil weight for your environment.

I just bought a 2012 Expedition King Ranch with only 39k miles and it's in mint condition. I paid $28k for it which I know is high, but I couldn't pass it up. I reccomend using Motorcraft oil and oil filters and change it every 3k miles. These tend to build up sludge because of a design flaw, so it's best to just change it often.

I use Mobile 1 in everything we own. The motors that Steve and I have torn apart have always been really clean internally running that oil. I typically like running the Motorcraft oil filter too.

I used atf in error like a dumb ass and drove on it for threee days. Had the oil changed properly and now it won’t start. HELP! ANYONE! 🆘

You're welcome. I believe there is a splash guard that you can buy to close that open area underneath from the bumper to the engine area to prevent road debris from kicking up and taking out the oil filter or something else. I believe Steve bought one for his 2008. Let me check on this...

Hasn't been leaking. You can reuse the oil pan plug if it is not leaking.
