It's good to see that they went to a white dipstick. My 2012 Ultra has a dipstick the same color as the oil. At my age it's difficult to tell where the oil stops on it.

I see we both have the same taste and Harley's. I too have a soft tail and absolutely love it. The other Harley's rocks you back and forth when you're sitting at a red light. The Softail having a balance engine does not do that when you stop. That's the biggest reason I went with one. I'm glad to see that you changed the o-ring. Whenever I do a friend's bike I always tell them to get new o-rings. Almost every time they don't come here with the o-rings. I tell them that if the one still on their bike is in bad shape that I will put the plug back in and take it off of the left and put it out in my driveway. 99% of the time I do not charge friends for changing their oil or just doing some services to it. I enjoy messing around in the garage. I have almost every tool that you could think of. The best investment was the lift. Anyway it had gotten so bad with my friends not picking up what I told them to do that I started charging them $10 for each o-ring. Some of them do not even care just for the fact of how much money they're saving for me doing the work. I love seeing you use a torque wrench. One thing you do not want to do is to break that oil plug. I could not even imagine what it would take to fix that. I enjoyed all three of your videos on servicing of a Harley.

You can add a decent amount of oil to the filter. It will help circulation at startup. The media absorbs a lot more than you think!

I like the video being to the point and which tools you need. I agree that some oil should be poured into the filter before hand tightening while keeping in mind the side mount screw on situation.

I've found a way to get rid of All Old Used Oil from motor by doing two more steps on soft tails! It takes 22 cranks of motor rpm to circulate oil through system. After removing filter, dump old oil an replace filter lightly back into place! Now fill oil tank With fresh New oil! With shut/off switch on (so motor cannot start) crank starter 11 revolutions (to get new oil from tank to filter! Now remove oil line on tank next to fill hole by removing clip! Place container over oil line to catch old oil from filter to tank. Now remove old filter with new filter! Now by cranking starter an motor eleven more times, your cleaned almost quart of old oil from lines from filter to tank! Now your whole system has new oil. Once old oil pumped from disconnected tank line, Replace line with tank mounting clip! (I wish I could do this with my Dyna but no oil tank like soft tails! It's important to get all old oil out an replaced with all new oil, this does that you! P.S. you say, yeah, what s a quart of old used oil in motor hurt? Might hurt some if entire system is only 2 1/2 qts or 3 quart system, that a third of dirty used oil left in bike!

Should you remove the return line to oil tank before you crank the 11 revolutions in case old oil from crankcase/cam plate/oil pump make it back to the oil tank with the fresh new oil in it?

Although 3 quarts probably would work just fine, Harley Davidson calls for 3 1/2 quarts with an oil filter change on that Softail and most others.

She knows her stuff. I know 3 things . . .I like to put grease on the oil filter gasket, getting the oil filter off with that "wrench" is a pain, and I would not want to arm-wrestle her 💪🏽

Oil must be checked in upright position on a softail only, on kickstand gives a false reading

To be honest. Caster oil 20/50 is the cleanest oil I ever used for small engines for year's... Works Best. Been to vote tech. Out of all the engines we took apart. Caster oil was the cleanest

hello, i ve question,, I use PCMO 10w40 APISN/CF,ACEA A3/B4 on my honda 110 4T scooter, i factory recomended oil is 10w30 JASO MB, feel smoother than factory oil, and my engine valve look clean from deposit. is it any effect for my engine later?
