How to change the oil on your Ford Escape Hybrid

This is a quick and no-nonsense video on how to change the oil on a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. This is the 2.3L 4-cylinder model that requires 5w-20 oil and is a non-canister filter. This a relatively simple maintenance item and I thought that the other videos online weren't descriptive enough or had good enough camera shots. Here's what I believe to be more comprehensive. This also works on the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 model years of the Ford Escape. This is also called the Mazda Tribute from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. This can also refer to the Mercury Mariner from 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. The hybrid model was introduced in 2005 and I can assume that for the second generation of the Ford Escape there are a lot of similarities for what to do and how to go about it. I couldn’t use the Alan key method to take off the oil filter cap mental piece to drain the oil fist because it was sort of stripped so if that is the case with you then expect to get some oil all over like this video!

also is that an old craftsman breaker bar? where did you get that?

@@AaronNewton I just noticed the tool you were using for the drain plug looks a lot like the old craftsman wrenches we have at work. That’s pretty cool though since craftsman isn’t made in the USA anymore.

you are not supposed to use those kind of filter pliers on a plastic filter housing like that...

The filter pliers I have are made from plastic and don't mar/disfigure the filter housing. Unless there's a better way to use the tool I'd honestly love to know! Thank you

@@AaronNewton I would’ve used a band wrench or the right sized filter cup. Using that tool seems like a headache but I guess if it works for you that’s cool
