How to Change the PTO Clutch on a Riding Lawn Mower. If your riding lawn mower blades stop operating and won't engage, your Power Take Off (PTO) clutch may have failed. The clutch may be bad or one of the bearings may have failed. This is a very common problem as riding lawn mowers age.
Some PTO clutch bearings can be changed (if the clutch is still ok) and some bearings are not removeable.
The PTO clutch mounts at the end of the crankshaft. Most riding lawn mowers will have the PTO mounted under the lawn mower and are quite easy to change.
In this video you will learn how I diagnose and change out a bad PTO clutch.
