Thanks so much for showing us how to do this, I got almost 101,000 miles on my car and my iMID display is showing it's almost time to change my spark plugs on my 2013 Honda Civic EX. The damn dealer wants to charge like $330 - $400 for this easy service.

"Sensor"? That is a "Coil On Plug" Ignition Coil ... "Housing"? That's the Cylinder Head ... a proper Spark Plug Socket has a rubber insert to hold onto the old spark plug so you don't need some rusty old needle nose pliers to fish the spark plug out of the cylinder head.

Do you need to change the timing belt along with the spark plugs or does it nor matter?
@fifty57123 жыл бұрын
I believe that 2013 honda civics have timing chains, not belts. So they do not need to be replaced.
@franks.61792 жыл бұрын

Not to nitpick, but the official size for the plugs is 5/8in, which is a hair smaller than 16mm. Might have been able to pull out without the pliers.
@razvanpoenaru4 жыл бұрын
thanks for sharing, I've seen another video saying 5/8, and now this guy 16mm and I was confused, now I know.
@timothykline26092 жыл бұрын
Yes it's 5/8 and use a spark plug socket it has a rubber boot inside to help remove the old plug and protect the new one from chipping.

I am a total noob lol. have a question unrelated to spark plugs, but tahnks for the video(changing mine today)....what is the thing that looks like a single large spark plug, in front of the spark plugs. goes into the silver color plate. has a wire coming out of it? thanks
@robbrie4 жыл бұрын
That's probably the front oxygen sensor. All modern vehicles have them; sometimes they're underneath in the exhaust pipe. This setup is better, as it's much easier to replace.

Next time use a short extension the extension you you're losing so much torque with a long extension and also I have a magnet to a makes your job a lot easier and definitely I will not use I will only use NGK plugs

well he fixed the issue for probably less than $60 instead of letting a dealership upcharge him $400 for a 9 minute fix. I see mechanics are hating on youtube again for showing people how easy their job is.
