How to change the Tonearm of a Reloop RP-8000 mk2 by a Straight Arm

Here is a quick video on the upgrade I made on this Reloop RP8000mk2 with a straight arm bought on eBay from DHC.

That was what I was looking for, helped me a lot to get rid of my tonearm. Since I used mwm phase for a couple of month now, the only thing my tonearms did were posing as an obstacle when reaching for the pitch control and nothing else. After they were gone, I didnt replace them with another tonearm but rather used the now free space and got two 7" tablets for 50€ each, one for every turntable. Now each turntable has a wave table, touch controls for effects, direct library access and many other gizmos :D Merci monsieur

@@DjKlinatm the display are just fixated with duct tape in a slightly angle above the big holes that were left after detaching the tonearms. Its temporary solution and doesnt look fancy. Currently I am in the process of designing a 3d printed detachable mount that will fit exactly into the holes so that it should look and feel as if the turntable left the factory that way. Measuring the holes, their insides and the tablets is not as easy as I first imagined it. Those many curves, on the tablet, but I make progress. Hopefully I might finish a prototype during next few weeks. I'will keep you update and you will receive pictures for sure. Its the least I could do, since your video saved me a lot of time and headache.

Good stuff, my man. I just got a Reloop RP7000. It's in great condition, original packaging, Reloop Ortofon Concorde stylus...except, the tonearm tube is bent. I played a record start to finish, did some kuts, everything is okay but it just bothers me that the arm is bent and low so I wanna replace it. Do you think the tube you got is compatible with my unit? Also, you got it from Henray Morales yeah? The link takes me to the tubes for Technics SL-1200 series. Are they compatible, too? Hey! Yes I bought it from Henry Dj custom, yes the 7000 and 8000 have same tonearm so it would work as well!

Instructions unclear! Removed all pcb’s, cut them in half and used sellotape to re attach. My tt only plays on wednesdays now. ☹️😀

May I ask, what was wrong with the S-Shape tonearm? how bent was it? I just received a new RP-8000 mk2, but it seems like the tonearm rests way too low when it’s off the platter. The Needle almost touches the deck when on the tonearm rest.

Excatly that, the needle was still on the record when the tonearm was lift up on the tonearm rest... and it was skipping a lot as well, probably because of that bent :) Time for your to replace your tonearm my man! It's not very hard trust me, if I did it, you can do it too :)

Yeah de rien, apres 6 mois d'utilisation intensive en scratch, je ne regrette pas du tout, c'est bien solide et fiable et ca ne bouge pas d'un poil quand je scratch alors j'adore!

No man, rock solid even 2 years after I did it! I must say I love it. It’s kind of harder on the vinyl o guess but skips less too… so I rather destroy the records and no skipping! 😂

I want to get rid of the tonearm for my own RP. That is the major design flaw on it imo. They should have made it removable as most DJ's are using Phase in live situations. It is in the way of the pitch. You cannot even see the digital read out. Thanks for this video, I will soon remove it but now Ill have a big hole in the turntable. I suppose I can cover it with something but a simple removable one would have solved this.

Can I put the tone arm on the opposite side of the vinyl afther change?

Hi, I don't think so because the chassis doesn't have the hole fitting, brackets and connections to flip the tonearm on the opposite side...plus you would need I guess to have the turntable spinning backward all the time for listening to music... which is possible but confusing when you will start to scratch or touch the vinyls....

@@MarcoMLp haaaaa, Ok pardon! 😶 je ne pense pas que ça marche frère parce que même si le bras n’est finalement qu’un tube dans lequel tu passes les câbles, il y a peut de chance que le diamètre du bras soit le même et si il est, tu as encore le problème de la longueur du bras… si le bras est trop court il y aura trop de pouf sur la cellule et ça risque de d’habimer les vinyls… par contre achète un bras droit comme j’ai pris sur eBay c vraiment pas très cher et tu sais que ça fonctionne.
