Cut the old cables at the Tonearm base. Solider it to the new cables and pull it through the shield. I always do this and its easy. Greetz

good vid, looking to replace tonearms on rp8000mk2 so assuming they are quite close if not the same. One tip for getting the new tonearm wires through the shielded cable - cut a plastic straw to correct length then feed tonearms wires through,then feed the straw through the shielded cable, peace

All the 8000 has over the 7000 is the MIDI stuff and the LCD showing you pitch, torque and brake. The rest is exactly the same as in the 7000.

Can I ask why you needed to replace the tonearms on the rp8k mk2? I have the mk1s and the design looks slightly different

They should really make that tone arm wire a solderless connection so people can easily repair them and even swap it for a straight tonearm. Also it seems to me they'd be better off making the fuses easily replaceable rather than where they are. Seems to me it'd be a great selling point to say these are cheaper and far easier to repair, customize (ie change the tonearm), or tweak.

Love my rp8ks. It’s clear that overall build quality isn’t up there with technics but they seem to have made it strong where it matters. To anyone wondering - yes you can do long mixes on these - they hold their pitch well and wow and flutter seems about the same as was on my 1200mk2s (judging by the fluctuation of about +/- .05 bpm when using timecode) Slightly disappointed to hear people having issues with them as my experience has been nothing but positive. If you were to get something other than 1200s I still think these are a good choice (7000 or 8000 depending on your needs)

Hi...I think I have to replace my tonearm and this tutorial is awesome!!...btw I have mk2 but I think there are not big differences...or are?...I have a one question and one, maybe, new technique what you was talking about at 24:00...question first: is there a model number on the tonearm?(i want to order right one)...and the technique: before you pull original signal cables throught shielding you can attach some rope to them... when you mirror this thereafter you pull new cables the original way back :)

Well I actually had an engine changed. Diesel at 113.000 km. So no sparkplugs involved. Head casket cracked. Luckily under warranty.

One way that you can fish the audio wires threw the silver wire is by taping the audio wires close to the end of a toothpick and then stick the other end of the toothpick threw the silver wire and feed it threw till it reaches the end and then pull the toothpick to feed them threw. Don’t know if that makes sense lol? I’ve done it several times.

I have an RP7000 MK2 that just stopped spinning. It turns on but no movement. I think something is wrong with the motor. Would dropping in a new motor fix this do you think? And how much is that part?

most likely its a component on the board ... you could replace the whole main board or try to trouble shoot it ... you can see if they have the part on instrumentalparts.com

@@ONEHENDRIX they all are based on the same Hanpin basic design which is why they are called Super OEMs. Stanton, Audio Technica, Reloop, Pioneer - you name it. They differ a bit in deck size, features and dampening but that's about it.

Bought a 2nd hand RP 8000 and when I plugged it into the mixer today, I got terrible static feedback. They have built in ground so I’m wondering of something internally has come loose?

hmm it is hard to say without opening up the table .. it could be a few things .. first start with the easiest fixes ... clean the 4 gold contacts on the inside of the tone arm where the head shell makes a connection . those should be clean and spring in and out if they are stuck it will cause sound issues ...if you have any more questions hit me up on facebook messenger

hey I really liked you review on the jesse dean portable fader, I was curious if you have ever used a kutter and how it compares to the jesse dean

the kutter fader if im correct is a contact fader like the original jesse dean fader ..... if your referring to the internal fader that mounts to the inside of the pt-01 scratch where the scratch switch goes jesse has two options his original which was also a contact and an updated version which is a non contact version . in my opinion the non contact version is the better option . i also have a plug and play fader known as the pulse it is a non contact fader that is a direct drop in fader . there is no need to modify or open the pt01 scratch to install the Pulse fader . you can find info of the Pulse fader at www.124c.org

I’ve started having an issue with mine, Have you ever come across the platter suddenly speeding up for a split second In mid scratch? It feel like the platter stops sometimes as well, just for a split second again, Always in -50 pitch.

Hey from what I'm told, this is a problem with all newer super oem turntables. I have the 7000mk2 and it drives me nuts. I got the deck so I could use the 133bpm battle records.

Hey, you may help me with an issue I'm having with this reloop 7000 mk2 I just got ( bought it used and seller didn't tell me about it). I'm hearing grinding noises when the platter is spinning. it varies from a noticable grinding noise for a split second to a barely noticable one. sometimes it's completely gone. you reckon it's the motor that requires lubrication?

You have to make sure you get good quality leds because the cheap ones are just not bright enough to light up the buttons good and there not going to last long. For the stobe light you will need a 5mm led.

depends on how you get it done ? if you order the parts and do the repair yourself than it will just be the parts cost plus your time . if you send it off to a repair shop it can be exponentially higher cost

sometimes the motor works, goes in and ou. the weird thing is it works when i lift the plate and put it back on. then when it goes it slows down to a stop and when it does turn it squeaks a little bit.

the only issue with this tt, is the tonearm , it bends so easily, too weak metal. My cat falls sleep over one and that was a real pain.

So, that is why people tend to go for vintage turntables: the new ones are already dead after few years! However when going with the oldies which have lasted for years, if you clean and re-grease them thoroughly, you can hardly find spare parts if something goes wrong … Imagine you buy a $700 vintage turntable for its high quality and then the motor goes dead -- How much are you ready to pay for the repair if any??

By the time that happens, you would be dead and that turntable passed on to your kid. I’m on 35 year old Technics 1200 and it works exactly as it did when my father took it out of the box. And what’s this re-grease I hear people mentioning?! 🙄 It’s magnet driven, brushless core. Smh.

@@ONEHENDRIX well, DJing does put a lot of strain on the peripheral components. The motor might last forever, but a repair guy I talked to yesterday told me getting a simple replacement pitch slider for a Mk2 or Mk5 will set you back 300 bucks easy. There does come a point when you start to think about replacing the whole unit. And with a Mk7, no one knows how the deck will prove itself over time. And you can get two new 7000 Mk2's for the price of one new Mk7.
