G'day Ian, you may wish to add that when replacing the impeller it is imperative that you remove the inspection cover on the heat exchanger and check that no parts of the impeller have reached that far and are blocking the heat exchanger. Its also worth checking the peices that you remove against the broken unit to ensure you have located all the pieces.

Yup. Its such a shitty design. Why not just use an old ass tested and proven metal centrifugal pump that can literally work fine for years .

Thanks Ian- I'm in St Lucia now closing on a 2013 J57 and spent the afternoon with the genset manuals poking around to see where everything was. You make it look easy. How about an oil change? BTW your videos were inspirational in my selection of this boat.

Thank you for the video, but I do wish you would have shown how to gain access to the impeller. I am having problems removing the pump housing. The Onan manual gives step by instructions, but the accompanying drawings are not clear as to what parts need to be removed. I loosened the tensor, then took off the belt, but at that point I am kind of stymied....how does one remove the main bolt on the rotating housing?

I’m new to repairing my Diesel engines. From all the other videos I’ve seen they always make sure they put the fins in the same direction. I noticed that some of yours were facing left and some right. Does this make a difference?

He did not see water flow movement in the sea water filter... because is looking at the main engine filter, in this boat model the sea water filter for the gen set is placed under the bed, and as this gen set has a water separator in the exhaust line you see no water spiting by the side, he probably miss to know in deep the boat. Fair winds to everyone.

Why didn’t you show putting the impeller into the housing? Everyone knows that’s the hardest part of the replacement!

+Kuntal, Why use robust systems for cooling? Ya can’t sell gen sets if folks are not burning them up! Have to fix one tonight😭

The pump design is so shitty and this poor design had lead to so many dead engines. Why can't they just use a normal perfectly fine , tested & proven centrifugal pump! .. a metal centrifugal pump will last years and perfect for high heat applications.
