The wax guard helps to protect the hearing aid against earwax. You should change the wax guard when there is reduced or no sound from the hearing aid even with a fresh battery or When you can see wax in the sound outlet. The wax guard system consists of the following parts: 1. The Holder 2. The Removal hook and 3. The Wax guard. *How to change the wax guard in Widex Receiver In the Canal (RIC) hearing aids. (For some hearing aids you will need to first remove the eartip. ) Insert the removal hook into the used wax guard placed in the sound outlet. Pull the wax guard straight out. Now turn the holder around so that the used wax guard is away from the receiver and the new one is in position to be inserted. Insert the holder into the opening of the sound outlet and gently press the wax guard onto the receiver. Pull the holder straight out. The new wax guard will automatically detach from the holder. Press the receiver/ear-tip gently against a flat surface to ensure that the wax guard remains in place. 6. Discard the holder with the used wax guard.
