How to change transmission fluid and filter on bmw 328i, step by step

The problem is solved, I replaced transmission and refilled it with new fluid, now it works perfect, it looks like the gear clutches were bad or the oil pump, because on previous tranny it only took 6 quarts but on the different tranny it took 7 quarts. In my case I tried replacing mechatronic, or solenoids, it was no help. You can watch my other videos replacing mechatronic and solenoids, also another video, replacing transmission

place a flat screw on the lip of the ring and light tap it inward. ring will collapse in. I did many times and now I can get the ring out in few seconds. To put it in, first push it in with your hand, then use a long socket with diameter the same or a tad bigger than the seal then lightly tap it in. Check to make sure it goes in evenly.

The trans is electronic and is controlled by the throttle position. On the BMW it is controlled by the gas pedal sensor. Try resetting this and it may fix your problem. It is an easy reset. Google it. I believe you turn on car without putting foot on break. Push gas pedal to floor for 1 minute and it is reset. I had a bunch of crude behind my gas pedal and had to vacuum it out first then reset. It fixed the trans issue similar to your complaint. Not saying it was the fix for your issue but I would try that first it worked for me.

Thanks for your advice, I tried that too, nothing helped, after like a week it failed all the way. I don't exactly know if the cluches worn out or the the transmission fluid pump failed. I have replaced the whole transmission, now it works fine

Any Torque specs on the pan bolts ?

I did some research people say 7 ft/lbs on pan bolts, Drain plug is 10 ft/lbs, and Fill plug is 14 ft/lb, but I did hand tight so I don't over tighten

i got Transmisson fluid deteriorated code and it shakes at 40 mph i got a 07 328i e90 any advice ? would changin the fluid + pan nd filter help my situation? is aluminum pan the way 2 go?

I would recommend replacing the fluid, and the filter, you don't have to change the pan, you can only change the pan seal, about the pan it depends on your transmission, if it is zf than it is plastic, if it is gm than it is aluminum

After replacing fluid, if the problem proceeds, than I would replace tourqe converter first, but if it slips only on one specific gear, then it needs a full rebuild, or Trans, swap. In your case it looks like bad tourqe converter, but start with simple first, by replacing the fluid and the filter

I used Valvoline Automatic Transmission ATF Dexron VI For BMW, the most important part is it has to say recommended for GM transmission on the bottle, if you have GM transmission. Sorry to bother you just seem like a knowledgeable dude, does the 2007 bmw 328i sedan have just one transmission speed sensor OR is the 4x ABS speed sensors the same thing as replacing the one transmission speed sensor on other cars? It looks like there are 4 abs speed sensors, and one transmission speed sensor, I sold my 3 series car, so I can't check, now I am working on 7 series 2009

Yes it worked good, but I sold the car already, if you are not sure which fluid to use, go with the one that is recommended for bmw, but I don't think fluid can damage the transmission, just look on the bottle if it is used for bmw or not. I would ask a store what fluid is recomend for your model

if you replaced the revers solenoid inside your transmission right on top of your transmission filter, it will fix the delay.

Maybe, but it got worse, it stopped going forward too, then it went into a limp mode, so I ended up replacing the whole transmission

If the transmission fluid is completely empty will it cause the entire car to shutdown? Cause mine wont crank i bust the transmission cooler line and it all came out. Could that be the problem while mine wont crank

To be honest I don't know, but there could be a protection like that, otherwise, starting the vehicle without Trans fluid can definitely damage the transmission itself

@LetMeSee333 the whole vehicle must be leveled to the ground, when filling up, so you would have to lift the whole vehicle, otherwise you will not fill it up correctly, and be careful so the car would not fall at you..
