YOU are my GURU. I have been crocheting consistently and reading EVERYTHING I could, online and in hard copy, since 2012, and I've even found information elsewhere about this so-called Russian join. But NOWHERE had I seen ANYONE'S perfect demonstration like yours. I'd read descriptions, seen videos even. But no one had EVER done it just like THAT. Why?! SO simple, it's genius. I'm sharing this video.

I love this, thanks for the tip. Says the last stitch is being slipped knit-wise, but each and every time, it's actually being slipped purl-wise (but with YIB).
@peachy750194 жыл бұрын
Yep, I noticed that too. All slipped stitches are slipped purlwise ... some with yarn in front and some with yarn in back.

Then I got help. 2 little tablets morning & night solved the problem in no time at all. Quick, easy & painless treatment. So talk to your doctors. So, If you know someone suffering in silence, please let them know how easy & painless treatment is.. Life can be challenging. No need to make it frustrating aswell & loose the joys there is to be had. I just hope Ive helped someone today. ;) Knit on people!

WOW! You are amazing! I need to try that trick. I wish I could figure out how you hold and work your needles. I am left handed and can't even imagine how you do it. Long ago at a Sons of Norway event I watched a lovely woman knitting just as you do. Her needles hardly moved and she didn't have to "loop" the thread onto the needle the way I do. I always look like I'm tossing a salad. THANK YOU for your wonderful tutorial videos!

So glad I found your video. I will use your yarn color changing technique to knit scarves for my family for next winter. Just two colors. Very neat rather than cutting and weaving in the ends. I didn’t want to do several rows of each color. I like changing colors more frequently. And I will just be knitting back and forth. Kiitos/thank you (Finnish). My maternal grandparents came to America from Finland. 😄

Glad to see you doing the "Knit Picking" method of knitting. I've done knit picking for 35 yrs now, but I hold my working yarn over my first finger & right NEXT to the needle, semi snuggly. I can knit 2 times faster than your long strand of yarn. It's so fast & produces PERFECTLY formed knit sts. (Also I do PURL sts with knit picking, but I do the first finger drop down method.) (I saw a LYS owner knit picking at her work table 35 yrs ago in her shop. I asked WHAT was she doing, and she said "Knit Picking...." I asked her if she'd show ME how to do it, and she said "Buy a yarn to use in my shop, & I'll show you." ) Well, I grabbed the 1st yarn in sight & sat down at her table! She showed me the technique, (& 2 ways to purl sts.) I went home to practice, and practice the method until I GOT IT! I was SO excited! I EVEN went back to Helen's shop the next day & bought some expensive Irish Wool to knit my husband a complicated, cable knit sweater for the VERY chilly & damp winters of WA state! He loved it, and "I" LOVED Knit Picking! I knit ALL perfectly formed, uniform sts "every" time I knit! It produces a fabric that looks like it was MACHINE Knit! I even became a Certified, Licensed Knitting Instructor for Craft Yarn Council of America, with 2 FULL days of intense training! Then, a few months later, the crochet class was offered in our area as well. I took that class too, & became licensed to teach it as well. I teach at Michael's, in my home, and Joann's has asked me to give them my contact information for future classes. I learned to crochet at "6" yrs old, and knit at 9, thanks to my 2 very loving, patient grandmothers!. I'm SO grateful for THEIR love and patience in teaching such a young student the skills. Thank you for your post. That's the way I do it too, nice & neat, no waffely edges.

Yo no tejo, hago solamente crochet. Pero llevo un GRAN entusiasmo por aprender hacerlo. Tal vez éste año lo logro si se me desentumecen las manos suficiente! Y NO me digan nadita de fe, señores!! Por favor!!!

How brilliant you are! I can hardly wait to try out this new trick with the hidden ends. Do you suppose this could work for crocheting as well? Warm Hello Knitting Angel :) Bjarne (did i spell that right?) are you Danish? So excited about using icord yarn for this magical way to join yarn you found out about and so graciously shared with us all thank you so much :) What do i do if i am using a cotton or linen yarn that is not icord piping ? So Kindly Thank you! I'd love to ask you all my Knitting Questions :) Take Good CARE MUCH WARMTH! T
@iluminameluna7 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's not a specifically icord yarn you need to use. It's ANY braided cord type yarn, usually done by machine and NOT by hand, that works for this type of join. Elsewhere you'll find it called a Russian join, known in crochet and knit circles for a good while, just that he's shown it SO well! It's AMAZING!! Try it with some wool yarn and you'll see. Works best with organic (meaning animal or natural) yarns, not so much with synthetic ones like acrylic. Happy knitting and hooking!!

Thank you so much for this tutorial - really interesting and so nice to listen to your voice. The yarn you use is beautiful but as a beginner I purchased a lot of cheaper acrylic yarn and now I am trying to work my way through it. Can I use this method on acrylic mix yarns or does it only work on the more natural yarns. Thank you.
@definitely_summer4 жыл бұрын
YES it works with most yarns. Use a longer length in the joined area. Acrylic won't grip permanently to itself the way a wool will. Try making a join with 3-4" of each yarn, or even longer. Very floppy yarns with loose twists don't join well, BTW. I've had success with Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Red Heart, and Caron yarns. Trim the ends of the yarn before you pull them together! The frayed bits won't mesh into the rest the way this nice wool knits into itself. :)
@dianazung1357 жыл бұрын
A smart idea. I used to spend so much time and effort to weave in the ends after completion of the knitting project. It looked so ugly compare to this method. Thanks.

Well, I've been knitting (mostly dishcloths, a few scarves, at beginner level) for nearly 35 years (I'm 40 and learned by watching my mom), wish I'd learned how to knit this way, it seems so much faster and easier than the way I knit! Before I start trying to learn all the rest of the magic in this video, I'm going to see about learning how to knit with your style. Does anyone know what this is called? Not the pattern, but the actual way this person is holding the yarn and basic knitting? Lol wonder about purling this way?? Maybe I need to just go to your channel.
