Nice video especially since you used easy to get hand tools. not everyone has the money, nor need, for air/electric tools. But just so people know.....the rotor has 2 small holes by the lug bolts. These are for taking 2 screws that fit and screwing them in to help push the rotor off without the need to use a hammer. I hope that came out clear enough.

I like the fact you left in the little frustrations you encountered. We all know that any work on a vehicle has its hiccups.

No.. Don't use hammers to remove a stuck rotor. Why does everyone suggest this? If a rotor won't come off, use the bolt holes in the rotor. They are specifically designed to pop a stuck rotor off. Use an M8x1.25 bolt, thread both in, and tighten them down. They will pop the rotor off the hub.

You sir are a genius. These bolts are used for the stock intercooler mount if you need to find some without running to the store!

The bolt that holds the brake hose to the strut will also work.

Who gives a fuck if your replacing the rotors anyway dingus
@electroevolution57774 жыл бұрын
If youre replacing the rotors... it doesnt matter. Its honestly faster too, which is a plus fir anyone especially those who are doing this at hoke for other people
@Voodoodrul4 жыл бұрын
@@BigJake1873 sometimes they are stuck hard enough that you'd need to really caveman it to get it loose, and since there is already a mechanism to apply directed force here, might as well use it. Sometimes you need to use the bolts plus a hammer and rust dissolver. In those situations, I torque the bolts a little, tap with hammer, repeat.

Those are some crazy hotspots you got on your old rotors.

Great video...helped me change pads and rotors on my '16 WRX. The bolt holes in the rotor were a huge help. Also, for anyone doing the rear brakes, the rotor has a rubber plug in it that I had to reuse. Nothing was shipped to replace it with the parts I ordered.

So if I'm just doing brake pads I dont need to take the caliper all the way off? Just the bottom bolt and rotate the caliper upwards to replace the pads?

Dont forgot to lubricate your sliding pins for the caliper!
@danschutz40853 жыл бұрын
You should always crack the bleeder valve on the caliper when compressing the pistons. Forcing brake fluid backwards through the system can, and probably WILL damage your ABS components.

Good job man, Im Brazilian, and your video helps me a lot! And talking about this, only to see the difference: How much cust a subaru wrx in your country? Here in Brazil this is a expansive car, not everyone can buy, it costs R$ 75.000, that in USA dollars is aproximately US$ 23.800
@gzoehobub7 жыл бұрын
That's about US$1000 cheaper than I paid for my 2011 wrx. 24,800.

You don't have an idea of what you are doing. I've seen all these clowns on youtube try to do brakes, and they do sloppy jobs. I recommend take a professional training.
