Being able to change an inner tube to fix a puncture is a skill every cyclist should possess. Great Britain Cycling Team mechanic Marc Yates gives you a step by step demonstration.

instead of a professional slickly massaging the inner tube easily into the tyre why not show an amateur cursing as they struggle with it? i think that might be a more honest approach to show the beginner being guided through it.

Preferably by the side of the road in the rain.

Not very good. You don’t show how to fix a puncture & miraculously the tyre is back on. It’s not that easy at all

But you DONT EXPLAIN HOW TO GET THE TIRE ON BEFORE PUTTING THE TUBE ON!!! You forget what it’s like to do it for the first time! Magically the tire will be on before the tube then it just slides in? Do you put the tire on first then the tube?? HOW DO YOU DO THAT?

Chap with the track pump had that tyre at 1000psi by the end!

Word is he's still pumping that tyre to this day

There's an entire step missing from pitting air in the tube to getting the tire back on the rim. This video makes it look and absolute 2min breeze when it is anything but for an amateur

If you're dealing with a very thin 700x23C, and you're struggling to get the tyre back on - stay calm, count to 10. Use duct tape to keep the quick wins in place in two places. Then, rather than trying to force-lift the tyre back, run one tyre lever along the resisting parts, patiently pushing in a 1/4" at a time. Use the other one to keep progress on the other side in place. (It helps if you have robust tyre levers). Use a flat screw driver for the final stretch, taking care not to stick it too deep and risk damage to the inner tube. Scratch damage to the metal be dammed! Worked for me.

Would be nice if you could do a video showing how to fix a flat on a town bike at the side of the road without removing the wheel - most bikes with hub gears don't have quick release axles, and certainly don't look anything like the road sport bike in the video.

Why did you take the tyre off the wheel? And how did it magically get back on? No mention of CO2?
@trick7005 жыл бұрын
Allan Phillips to check the tyre for damage or penetrating objects that caused puncture in first place e.g. glass shard or thorn

Trying to put an inner tube one makes me want to chop my head off

No mention of trying to mend the inner tube though. Let's move away from single use, throwaway thinking! Global Cycling Network's channel is better than this.

Nice video. With this information I can better manage my inner tubes and keep them fit for the road. Thanks

My inner tube inflated without the need for a pump watching that presenter...
