This is why i hate new nissan frontier i have an old nissan frontier 2001 and the oil filter is very easy to access. Now i bought the nissan frontier 2016 an i hated it because its very difficult to pull out the filter... Whoever invented this kind of setup i want to smack it lmao..

I think that oil filter latch could of been a little bit bigger 🤦🏼‍♂️ Won't some of that oil from the oil filter get stuck on that giant metal plate?

Crush washer? If you purchase a Nissan oil filter, the crush washer is included in the box. That being said, my 2002 Frontier has 193,000+ plus miles on it and I only used a new crush washer the first oil change. I continued using the same crush washer and have had no leaks. Maybe crush washers on the drain plug are over rated?

I have a Frontier 4.0 V6 and it takes 5.38 qts of oil with filter change, according to the manual. Was this the 4 cyl?

What size oil filter? What size oil wrench will fit that filter? What if the filter is on too tight? How would you get it off. Can you take off the whole water splash guard underneath? You didn't address an array of issues that could go wrong. How convenient that the oil filter just spun off with your hand turning it. That probably will not happen in the real world. This video is just worthless and too Disneyland(ish). Will not work in the real world of car maintenance.

Got a 2016 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SV 4.0 V6 when I do my oil change I put a Jug 5qts 1 bottle then 1/2 I'm I right?

I have a 2011 I've been doing my own oil changes since day one I have only used mobile 1 extended performance oil and filter I have 175,000 on it as of now I've allways just put 6 quarts in no issues at all with it says 5 plus 3/8 of a quart that's so the extra isnt that big of a deal barley shows past the line after it sits for awhile

I also just bought a 2016 frontier 4.0L V6 6 cylinder requires 6 quarts of oil smaller engines like the 2.5L require 5 quarts or less for the 4 banger trucks

my 2012 frontier takes 4 7/8 quarters that is 4 quarts and 28 oz. can I just pour all four quarts ? or does 4 oz make a difference?

Good video. Unlike all the others, this kept it short and showed you all the steps. That trap door is kind of small, but I was able to reach in. The old filter was on kind of tight, put on by a local shop. But you can reach in with a filter wrench from the side, and using two hands I was able to break it loose. I put on a Fram Titanium filter, because I like the gripper spray they put on them. I know that Fram gets a bad rap, but all my vehicles last a long time using them, so I'll stick with them.

Ryan Toomey You can, not necessary though. Coating the rubber ring gasket in oil with your finger on the new filter (as was shown in the video) helps create a seal when hand tightening it until you feel resistance. My take on it is if you can’t get the filter off by hand during an oil change, it was over tightened.

if you have big manly hands there's no need for a wrench just reach in there and loosen it oil filters are supposed to be hand tightened anyways

Good vid. Around my area, these oil change outfits range from 60-$75.00. Thats nuts. I do it myself now and usually pay about 36.00 for Fram synthetic high mileage and a filter. Strangely enough this time I had a hard time getting a reading on the dipstick. Very flimsy.
