It appears you may have installed the first middle paddle backwards by accident. 15:42 shows it perfectly, the reinforced rubber paddle has more rubber facing the wrong way

Thanks Dave. Great video. As a 52 year old female, Donyboy73 has helped me out a lot as far as small engines. I love it. Husband just lets me do the maintenance and repairs. Alone time! Lol I subbed because your camera work and explanations are very good. Also, If you weren't a good guy Donyboy wouldn't waste his time. Been watching him for almost a decade. Thank you again.

Hey! That means a lot to me!!! Don and I are good buddies in real life, not just on the internet. If it wasn’t for the stupid lock down I would be up there with him making more videos! I love my alone time too - out in the garage using my hands to fix something up. It’s a pretty great feeling of accomplishment isn’t it! Thanks for the sub, I am still ironing out the camera work but I love to explain things as I go along. Take care!

Hey Dave. Nice repair job 👍 Today I have tryed the sanding of the piston, the ring and the cylinder on a Dolmar PS5105. It worked great! The compression raised about 33% up to 145psi😂 Great method to repair a blown up engine on a chainsaw👍👍 Best whishes from Germany, Stefan

Dave, great video! I’ve changed the paddles several times on my HS520. One thing I have seen is that the two outer bars, where the paddle single holes attach, bend outward towards the housing over time. This can cause the paddle ends to rub against the housing sides. I bend them in for approx. 1/4 inch of clearance, when this occurs.
@DavesSmallEngines3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great tip. I’ll keep that in mind if that issue arises!

You done such a great job replacing those paddles Dave, professional job IMO. I have an electric single stage blower that has those same paddles, I haven't used them enough to wear them out though. But your right, they are a wear item, just like tires on a car. Thank you for making a video, I am sick with flue, and I need video's from awesome people like you to help make me feel better. :)

Great video Dave, just wondering on the first center one you have the stitching towards the front. There is more rubber towards the back, does it matter?

Great attention to detail, Norm! I think I may have overlooked that. I would want the bulk of the rubber side toward the leading edge with the stitches as support. Guess I’ll be going to go flip that around for him! Thanks!!!

Can we expect a video on the inspection, replacement and clearance adjustment if the scraper blade? Critical component for proper snow blowing. Perhaps, combine it with replacement of the drive belt. Thanks, good video!

I just picked up a HS621 for $50. Owner said the “blade” doesn’t spin but the engine runs perfect. I couldn’t get there fast enough before someone else. He had no clue what was wrong. Sure enough I get it home and the belt was shot. When I told him what I found as he was curious, he said he had no clue how to change it anyway. Why he spent $800 on a new machine. Familiarizing myself with this model. Appears there are no paddle wear indicator holes like my old Toro?

I wonder how much these paddles cost from the manufacturer. I work in the conveyor belt industry and could cut hundreds of those paddle from the remnants we throw away in a week. Would just need one set to use as a pattern.

This.... is intriguing. It was about $100 for everything I believe.

Looks much easier to replace the paddles on the Honda vs. my single stage Toro. I replace my paddles about every five years. Very difficult to get the side bolts back in, I would buy the Honda if my Toro failed. I've had the machine for 11 years and works well but the time it takes to do the paddles makes me to not recommend the Toro.
