Really enjoyed your video. Thank you. I did the same exact mods to my blue Ray 2. I agree. That stainless steel bezel insert looks amazing. The only difference is I chose the SS insert with the slight pop of red on the pip triangle to pick up the red tipped second hand. I’m sure nobody noticed, but it makes me smile. Thanks again!

You could’ve soaked the setup in grip solvent for a few hours to dissolve the tape for an easier removal.

I would soak the bezel in Ronson lighter fluid (put in a small zip lock bag) to soften the double side tape holding the bezel insert so that it won't break and can be reused. btw, your screw driver set looks so nice!

i use the golf club adhesive remover i thinks its a mineral oil . i put a few drops around the crystal then let capillary action to draw it in then after 20 mins pry of the insert

Man that was a great video. I have collected aromatic dive watches right at 20 years and I have always customized everything I was able to or if I couldn't I would pay someone to so I could bring the photo in my mind of what I saw completed as If it had been done already and then do what it took to bring my vision to life down to the finest exact detail. I say that because I can't tell you just how many divers I did not buy or how many I did that I always preferred a stainless bezel look over a black or blue bezel and this is the exact reason why breitling back when I collected and had the type income to have been a regular and far too much breitling customer for years but it was because most all their pieces had stainless bezels and that would only at times leave me wanting to customize the second hand or the dial itself which I never did because of the prices I paid that would have caused the value to drop even more had I modified a 5k piece. Man I would have saved so much money had I known or had the knowledge and skill set to do what you just did. I know the correct tools and items needed are a must, but where do you locate various bezel inserts and are they readily available out there that will fit most any model piece or do you buy pieces that you know that to be a bezel insert for that exact model that is made and you can get before hand so you aren't stuck with a diver that the stainless insert isn't made or none that will fit thus stuck with that piece to not be able to customize the insert? Also are the stainless bezels that have raised numbers that give the bezel depth and character in stainless are those inserts as well or would those require the entire bezel to be swapped out? And sorry for the questions but this was awesome to see but is it simply a diameter size that you search then obtain the type stainless insert you are after look wise or do you have to search for each insert to be model specific and obtain the inserts or entire bezels in that manner? Not sure if I'll ever be able to do it myself but so many divers in the past and the very few I buy these days I know if I could make them look like they do by the photo I see in my mind as if they already were made to what my mind sees them to be man that will change everything. I appreciate any info if you have a free moment to respond to such a long winded multi question comment such as mine. Awesome video man. I liked it and I subscribed. Sorry for the detailed questions but in the past the very few watch makers I've spoken to about this such thing would not know or not care enough to give me the knowledge so that I could apply it accordingly in regards to bezels and or the inserts only. Thanks a ton if you have time to respond. Made that piece look 100 percent different and totally unique thus making it your own and that's another reason I like to customize not just divers but most everything I get that my mind instantly sees it then sees it as if it had already been completed to look like the photo I see it to be and if it's possible I enjoy bringing that photo to life. I soak the bezel in grip solvent for 3 hours. Just use a big bottle cap so as not to soak the entire watch. The bezel insert will just fall out after that. Lighter fluid works great too.

I tried aligning my Orient with a ceramic insert with 3M adhesive tape from Long Island Watch. The alignment was off and the insert was destroyed getting it off . I’m trying it with GS Hypo cement so I could align it when glue is wet.

You did a great job on that watch, i am not detracting from that at all. But i believe the reason it didnt sell, is that orients have great apeal for a few hundred dollars, and most people are more than content with them the way they are from factory

A standard SKX007 bezel will not fit onto the Orient's case. You have to use a specific conversion bezel that fits the orient's case that then enables you to use any skx007 insert. That bezel can be bought from Long Island Watch.

If you soak the bezel and insert in nail polish remover, the glue dissolves and the insert falls off.

I applied to the bezel insert with a q-tip several times over the course of about 10 minutes then was able to lift it off very easily. Some people say you have to soak the face of the watch in it for 24 hours but I found that that was not necessary.

dont put acetone on your watch ..soaking the bezel in minereral spirits alone will do the trick, keep it submerged for 30 hours..

@@jcummings187 acetote works best on ceramic inserts. I once used blue nail polish on a black aluminium insert and it bleached it to an awesome tourquiose. I do have 2 of these inserts so it was fine. Plus I like it.

That really makes a difference! I'm looking at the b42 watches from fortis and want the same look you created with a fortis watch. Is this procedure possible on all bezels? New to watches

Hi there. There's a better procedure, but it takes a little longer. Soak the bezel upside down in nail polish remover overnight and the insert will just fall right out. I'm sure the bezel insert does come off from the bezel on almost every dive watch, but the problem is that aftermarket manufacturers don't cater to very many brands. You would have to find a bezel insert with the same outside and inside diameter by searching through forums, listings, etc.
