How to Charge BMW Keys

If you don't use your spare key or your car very often, you may see a message on your BMW screen telling you that the battery in your key fob is low. You can drive the car with the key in the slot of a few hours or you can use your Apple Watch charger or even an electric toothbrush charger that has induction charging to charge up the key fobs. I have an 03 M3 having issues with key fob and also trying to open the door using manual and valet keys now I’m afraid to lock it again I am wondering if perhaps I don’t drive it long enough to actually charge the key battery it’s over $600 to buy two new keys ty

How many hours should I try charging it before assuming it’s a dead battery. Backup key wasn’t used for 3+ months

I’d try overnight and if that doesn’t work, it’s probably dead

So the guy who made the video is a complete liar. This doesn’t even make logical sense.. I’ve had many BMWs. I don’t know why people make up these lies for views. It’s pathetic

This is just plain wrong. The guy is confusing using the RFID tag in the key (which allows you to use the key to wirelessly start the car, even if the battery is flat) with wireless charging.

It’s not wrong. Non comfort access keys charge while in the slot and do not have rechargeable batteries.

So do all of the diamond keys (e46, e49 ect). That's why you can not open them to change the battery.

​@@SimpleCarGuyi change batteries every once in a while in bmw keys (solder a new one) and you are wrong.. Those are actually rechargeable, so this video is legit. It will work if the battery isnt completely dead
