Tip: If you are looking to get your first one, go with the Deluxe. That small one is so hard to play and is frustrating becuase of the narrow thing whatever you call it.

Dude... Your voice is soooo good! I mean, you talk in a way that is so healthy and great for singing!! I take voice lessons (for years now) and i still have to adjust my way of speaking a lot! Maybe you are just a natural, but maybe you also do some things on purpose. Either way! It's impressive to me. Will check out your songs. 😊 And thanks for the tips!! I wanna buy an Otamatone. Preferably a deluxe... But.. they are so expensive! 🙉
@GoIdheart2 жыл бұрын
The second and third screwholes are one full C-octave on a deluxe Otamatone. It's pretty easy to determine the notes there.

I wouldn’t call that cheating, it’s an old trick to help learning on any fretless neck, I used it on violin and double bass. Once you get to certain level you get that into your muscle memory anyway. You still need to place your fingers perfectly, so not really like frets on a guitar. I know a real cheating trick😁, have you tried playing with autotune?😜
@Sancho_Retablez3 жыл бұрын
5:13 I don't know if somebody has commented it yet , but... Instead of cutting more than one pieces of adhesive tape, how about cutting a single long one, fixing it along the neck beside the touch stripe and writing marks and even notes with a marker? You could even keep that long strip, scan it or take it to a print shop to get make adhesives with gloss finish to allow more ease sliding in the touchstrip.

Thats what I did, very poorly but it still helps 😂

Video starts at 2:40, but honestly don't bother because it's an unstructured, rambling mess. The entire thing can be condensed to the following sentence: "Mark the side of the otamatone with tape, as a beginner might on a violin, to create anchor points for notes you've found with either a tuner or by pitch matching." Enjoy the 8 minutes you've just saved.

Would be easier to just use one single lone strip of tape, and then mark with a marker on the tape where the notes are. You can even write out the note next to the line if you want

I was planning on doing this anyway but once you said stickers I stopped the video to get some cute little puffy heart stickers that matched the colors of my Otomatone. Now it's perfect!

In chromatic harmonicas they put a number above each hole. Not too useful because you can't see them while playing, but it helps for other reasons.

You know, I think I have perfect pitch? I have no musical knowledge so I don't know notes or anything, but it's really easy for me to sing songs after hearing them like once or twice. I BS'd my way through chorus in high school by just listening to the songs and learning them that way bc learning to read sheet music was just. Impossible for me.

I bet you do too based on what you told me! Even though I am classically trained, I do not like to read sheet music at all haha
