In a pinch, 'ohming out' a capacitor can tell you if the capacitor is holding charge─ (or if it is 'open') but what can it not tell you? We go over the cons of using a basic ohm meter.

Buying a meter is MUCH cheaper than paying the sheisters that will come out and troubleshoot your AC for you. I had a company doing a yearly check-up on mine and they said my capacitor was low and the charge would be $325 to replace! It is literally held on by one sheet metal screw and cost about $25-$35 to replace. He already had the cover (4 screws) off in order to check the capacitor.
