I might be in my mid 30's, but I just lost my dad to cancer last year. I was his little girl. And although he did a lot for me, he also taught me how to do a lot myself. However... So often I wish I could go to him and say "Hey Dad... how do I do...?" I just stumbled upon your videos by falling down the KZbin rabbit hole and I'm so glad I did! Thank you so much for being a Dad to all who need one! I wish I could give you a hug! 🥰 God bless you! ❤️

My mum managed to cover a lot for me growing up. Car related things is something she’s been struggling to help me with and for some reason I’ve always felt embarrassed going to other people about it (and most stuff on the internet confuses the hell out of me). I really want you to know how much this and all your content has seriously helped me (and so many others I’m sure) 💗 thank you so much ☺️

My parents helped me get my second car a few months ago. I’m really grateful for it, and am trying to maintain it better than my last one. We did our research this time around and my car only had one previous owner who took really good care of it. I just put air in the tires this morning and I decided to check and top off/replace my fluids soon, so this is perfect timing❤️

Great video! Just remember that when you're checking your engine oil, you should take the following steps: 1. Make sure the car isn't running. 2. Pull out the dipstick. 3. Wipe the dipstick clean, as the level will read high since the oil splashes around inside when the car is running. 4. Re-insert the dipstick and wait a few seconds. 5. Pull the dipstick out and check it.

It’s always good to give your car a good once over when doing this. Checking tires, hoses, belts, and battery. Also a quick look under the car to make sure everything is still attached properly. Nothing dangling loose. Especially here in the Midwest little clips and stuff rust away and it’s a lot cheaper to replace a clip than say your skid plate, muffler, or more dangerous things like wiring, fuel lines, or brake lines. Also forgot one. If you have one your air filter. Especially in places with a lot of pollen, dust, etc. Your car needs to breathe. If you live where I do make sure your car has not been used for a squirrels acorn storage 🙄 lol.

I found when explaining which side of the vehicle is in question….it’s easier and more specific to say drivers side or passenger side. As in front passenger side or back drivers side. Otherwise people are usually left guessing. Also gas fill up is usually on your dash instrumentation…..whatever side the gas icon is it ends up being the same side as your fill or gas cap is.

Brake fluid: if your going to be driving through the mountains you will also want to test brake fluid for percentage of water. Brake fluid is hygroscopic ( meaning sucks in moisture from air) water brings down brake fluid resistant to boil over Oil: to check oil level you want to have car on flat ground. Have a paper towel. Pull out the dip stick wipe that off (oil slush throws off reading) re dip putting it back in completely, pull out at check. Coolant DONT JUST PUT WATER IN. Coolant is a 50/50 mix of concentrate and water. Trans fluid: same as engine oil. But have the car running and warm. Bonus check color red - good brown- old/ think of replacing black- replace Also check tire tread and pressure. You can do this by heading to your locale O’reillys and borrowing there’s Check battery- also at any auto parts store they have car battery testers. WARNING: auto parts store people will man-splain you. Half their shit is stupid.
