Is it ever possible to reset a master code on a DoorKing system? Or will I have to buy a whole new one?

You can change the master code on all Doorking models. On the board, find the master code switch. Turn it on, then enter your new master code, and press the star key. You should hear a short beep. Turn off the master code switch and your done.

Here's an unusual scheme to check the health of the keypad switch contacts, using only a small AM pocket radio. Opening the keypad housing should not be necessary. First, turn on the radio and hold it up to the keypad. Tune the radio around the bottom of the AM band until some droning digital RF hash is heard from the speaker. The hash is coming from the microprocessor as it scans the keypad switches, waiting for a switch closure. Once the radio is 'tuned in' to the steady droning noise, depress a key and listen for any changes in the noise heard on the radio receiver. A big jump in the character of the noise should be noted each time the processor gets a valid switch closure. The noise should lapse back to the original drone after a moment, once the processor resumes its normal background scanning task. Check each key and listen for changes in the nature of the noise to confirm proper operation; watch out for 'tired' keys that need extra firm pressure, etc. This method is completely non-invasive, and worked well on the Doorking 1810 wall-mounted model.
