Recently stumbled across your channel and really like your style and no nonsense approach. I actually wore a primary chain belt in the mid 70's when I lived in Fayetteville NC which was a pretty though place at the time and did use it twice to settle disagreements. Good times for sure. I ride a 93 STS but much of what you show can be applied to it as well so I'm subscribed and looking forward to picking up more of your knowledge. Thanks for taking the time.

Very glad you found my channel and enjoy the videos. Yep a primary chain belt would definitely settle a dispute quickly. Different times we live in now from the 70's. Thanks for subscribing and watching. Ride safe.

Any advise on what year of Harley you'd recommend to pull a primary chain for if you did want to make a belt? I found your video trying to see how long my bikes belt is for that reason but after what you said about it being too heavy I'm looking at other options. Can't find much about the old 70's style belts, probably due to their other uses. Any help would be appreciated.

No there is no year I would recommend to change over to belt drive. It would be the same amount of work no matter what year you tried it on. Harley did put make a belt drive in the late on the FX models. But it didn't work out too well and they went back to her chain. No matter what year you change from a chain to a belk it's a lot of work and expensive. Thanks for watching and ride safe

@@tinkeringwithharleys Thank you for getting back to me! But I was actually asking about a belt that holds your pants up made out of a primary chain. Sorry for the confusion. I just really want to make a belt like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider. 😅

Lol my mistake. We used to make them usually with a used chain. They used to sell them brand new years ago but I haven't seen one of those in years. Thanks for watching and sorry for the misunderstanding.
