How to check your Check Engine Light. OBD1 Civic

This video is a basic little How-To of checking your check engine light (CEL) on a 92-95 honda civic, and what your code means... if you have any questions please feel free to ask...
long flash is 10.... so 4 LONG flashes = 40
short flash is 1..... so 3 SHORT flashes = 3
if you have 3 long flashes acccompanied with 2 short flashes your code is 32
here is a list of obd1 honda codes to help you find out whats the issue...

good video. you might want to check the back up fuse in the engine compartment fuse box first. my '93 DX got its first check engine light at ~ 180,000 miles. the check engine light did not flash when i jumpered the connector as shown in the video but replacing the blown fuse resolved the problem (the check engine light did not come back on when driving). also, remove the glovebox to access the connector. mine was to the right of the glovebox. there was a green rubber cover over two blue connectors, one with two wires and another with three wires. in order to access the two-wire connector i had to cut the lanyard that held the rubber cover to a bundle of wires covered in black plastic wire conduit. then carefully pry the two wire connector out so you can access the pins from the front.

@@bmxenthusiast5348 That was years ago (my buddy's still driving the car) but i believe it was a large fuse (not a mini fuse) in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Just do a quick continuity check on those fuses - shouldn't take long to check all of them.

1997 honda accord. I have no check engine light but I tried connecting my bod2 I bought and I can't connect to ecu . I want to check for history or pending codes. works on my 1997 accord . I tried this on my 96 and made sure contact is good on the plug and my light stays on/solid . doesnt blink . does that mean I'm good ?

I've never done this on an accord but I can assume that it's the same if it's obd1 ... If the CEL stayed on like normal, then you probably didn't jump the plug properly

Patu Laku i honestly i can tell you that MORE THAN LIKELY what was applied in this video will NOT apply to newer cars 00 and up... ESPECIALLY BMWs ... this is a trick for obd1 and sopme obd2 specific hondas if i were you id just go to autozone .. they check your Check Engine Light for free and let you know whats wrong ...
